You all are making me miss my 599 more and more. I traded her in for an 06 1000RR, and although it's obviously a sweet ride, I miss the originality of the 599 (especially after fixing her up!). I'm computer dumb, so you have to view the pics old school style (tips and how-to's are welcome!):

I remember seeing these pictures months ago, thinking how sweet the exhaust looks! Sorry to hear you decided to sell her.

Welcome to the forum!

By the way i was contemplating removing the honda sticker on the tank of the 599 but i saw in your pictures that its a noticeable aftermark that's left there. I noticed when i tried to peel a little bit of it and ended up not doing that but did your mark disappear later?

Good eye. The marks left on the tank after the stickers are removed are permanent. I'm not sure if it's standard practice, but it appears as though the bike was clear coated after the stickers were applied, rather than applying the stickers after all the paint was complete. So the "shadow" you can see where the stickers used to be is actually part of the paint, not residue left over from the stickers.

I immediatly liked the look though. Just like the 599 itself, it's not something you see every day.

thanks for the heads up. the 599 stickers are gone but the honda stickers will remain on the tank.

Dark how did you like those suburban bars ? been thinkin bout it also ur cbr you like ? that is gonna be my next bike cbr1000rr but Im not sure I wanna trade my baby in or not Just start gettin used to the power and always want more and more yah know what I mean? The 1000 is just a friggin ballistic insane rush OMG I want one ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

The suburban Machinery bars felt really good. I'm 6'2", and I'm not sure why, but the stock bars made me feel a bit too upright. The lower profile of the new bars where actually more comfortable to me. Plus I liked the more aggressive feel.

And what can I say about the 1000RR? It's fantastic. If you've never ridden a current 1000, you're in for a ride you won't soon forget. A friend of mine recently bought a F4i, and I let him ride the 1000rr, and after one hit of the power on the highway he was literally throwing his hands in the air in celebration like he just won the lottery. He's now contemplating how he can sell the F4i and buy a 1000 while losing the least amount of money possible.

The top-notch suspension is also something you'll notice right away. I immediatly found myself leaning further and taking turns faster and more confidently than I ever had with the 599.

Like I've said in another post though, I really miss the 599. As you know it's just a blast to terrorize the town on. And you can't beat the simplicity and fun-to-ride factor of it, plus you don't have to worry about causing a thousand dollars worth of damage to plastic if you drop it in the driveway.

Should you trade in your 599 to get the 1000rr? If I could do it again I wouldn't. I would save up so I could have both.

Absolutely F'n gorgeous.

I seriously thought about getting a 1000RR just for looks alone...but then i realized how much more it would cost me in insurance and how i'd probably kill myself with that much power, so i kept myself in check on that one. (That and my girl likes to ride every now and then and i know that she would NOT get on the back of one of those.) But maybe one day i'll get both...talk about the best of both worlds!!!

The belly pan is from Artfibras, as discussed in this thread: http://www.honda599.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I love it too, but never had any luck getting one. I found Artfibras on e-bay, but never had any luck with them :?

Thanks! I always wanted a 1000, and knew I wanted something bigger than a 600 and would be kicking myself if I didn't get the bike that I really wanted, so I went for it. The power is insane. Much faster than anything needs to be on the street, that's for sure.

My girl loves riding, but the passenger seat on the 1000 is pretty much non-existent, so no extended rides like we could do on the 599. I'll probably end up forking out the $200 for a Corban passenger seat for her by next spring.

Darktint,

i know you want to trade your bike for my '93 RX-7...c'mon and admit it...

(Actually i just want a black 1kRR and couldn't justify it any other way. Someone actually offered me a '04 1000RR plus cash for my car...but it's not black. I really, really love the black. 8) )

thanx a looooot buddy !! im gonna see on their website what they can do for me! do you know where i can have comments on this pipe, as far as sound, hp and torque gains?

antihero

I don't know about gains but everyone who has bought them loves the sound (the most important component to americans).

DarkTint
11-30-2006, 11:52 AM
I've already posted this on another thread, but in case you missed it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8vNNgzgShE It's not the carbon fiber, but it sounds very similar.

As far horsepower gains, I installed it a couple years ago, so it's been a while, but I don't remember any dramatic difference. The sound is what did it for me though. Two Brothers rules!

Charclo...love the avatar.

I got a Two Bro pipe (went for the Ti) and love the sound... but more than that, I love the way it looks. Unless you are a spec whore (or Super Sexy Steve) you will not find any reason to dislike the product.

It gets :thumbsup :thumbsup from me.

First of all I didn't tell him not to get it. Infact, I was trying to help him get it! Get what you want. I don't care.

And if you think I'm the only one on the internet who doesn't like them, you haven't searched very hard. How many slip on's have you owned?

Charclo, thanks for the offer. I may take you up on that.

ok guys lets calm down !! lol !!
Steve just PM me when you need help, for example if you happen to buy smth on ebay.fr or smth.
lytew8: yeah you're right that expensive, but have you ever been riding with a guy who has a slip-on? :D :D :D I can tell you that its definitely worth it. and anyway you can find slip-ons cheaper on ebay, I missed a DPM that has been sold only 150€ (~$170)
And in the Parisian traffic, just accelerate a bit and you feel just like you are Moïse (the Bible guy) on the shore of the red sea? its magic !!! definitely worth the money! :D :D

I dont like 2bros either the main reason is the ugly ass yellow emblem that is riveted on makes it look stupid to me

the main reason is the ugly ass yellow emblem
Ahhhh that's the only reason I got it...well that and the sound...and the look of the opening... Definitely would have been a different line of thought if I had a bike any other color besides yellow...like would have gone with the Carbon Fiber one and maybe remove the emblem.
