First and foremost yes i'm a post whore... (work is a little slow today..)

but After a little bit of research and shooting the gun....

I ordered a carbon fiber blueflame... from brian and he's very helpful...

but wanted to get everyones opinnion > (HEAT SHIELD or NO HEAT SHIELD) according to brian i can order it both ways... What does everyone think...
Here's mechanic's bike as an example.

My bike is Matte black so i'm wondering if the polished chromie will kind of clash... i can probably take a brillo pad to sratch it up maybe but would it be cleaner just with out it period...

Don't cover a beautiful carbon fiber pipe with a heat sheild! The carbon fiber won't get hot enough to need a heat sheild anyway.

One of the big advantages of carbon fiber is it's heat dispersion. Show it off! :)

not the heat shield to cover the pipe but look at mechanics77 pic under the pics section you see how there's a little chromie heat shield on the link pipe not the can itself.

Oh. The heat shield? I'd say yes to that one. Though as you note, you might want to try and brush or dull the finish on it a bit. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

you dont really need that heat shield unless you ride in shorts

mmmmm... i'm just asking about looks, not about whether it will burn off my leg or not.. never in shorts on a bike so there's no worry about that. but... based on looks what do you guys think?

I kinda like it, but i can see how it would look nice, but different, without it. Without it (and with the matte black) would be a very 'industrial' look, whereas with it would look a bit more finished. I don't think you can go wrong here.

I think its mainly there to block the connection so you cany see the clamp and union but I didnt like it w/o it to me it made the pipe look skiny going into a large can its a nice grad decrease in size to smooth the lines :D
