just wanted to give my 2 cents on the leathers that i just bought. just got myself A* track pants, TZ1 jacket (already have this jackein 44, but needed a 38) and SMX goretex boots. i've been riding in these for two days and wearing the pants around the house for a few hours. the gear is breaking in slowly, but it's getting there. when i first rode in all this new gear i couldn't even lift my leg up and around my seat. it was horrible, it felt like a body cast, let alone trying to ride in it. it's been two days since i've had the gear and there're starting to fit better and better. i feel alot better knowing that my llegs/knees/shin/hips are protected. it felt weird at first and i was alittle self concious about walking around in all leathers, but ultimately i'm responsible for my own health and safety. just wanted to share this, for those who are thinking about getting leathers and are boarderline on the whole idea, for whatever reason. get them, you won't regret it.

What I did was buy some black leather pants that are cut like blue jeans. I don't really have to look like a racer super hero so I went that route. They are pretty cool and I get all the protection and wind blocking that leather provides. I also get to have the all important pockets.

Where would you get something like that?

I just went into a place that sold all kinds of gear. Just about every catalog has some. They are more popular with the cruiser crowd.

Sounds like a good idea Steve...no armor or padding but looks good and better than Levi’s 501’s... It's mostly warm here so I have a pair of Icon Kevlar reinforced pants for running around. Look casual and have stretchy panels and pockets but still no armor.

Try the local Harley Davison Super dealer. They have lots of leather but may be tuff to find something w/o “HD” all over it. (for some reason we have 3 HUGE ones here in Orlando)

i'll get those pics as soon as i get the chance alex.

-D'lo, i'm very satisfied with the gear. i'm sure everone here knows how a new, "motorcycle cut" leather jacket feels so, i'll skip that part.

as for the ASTAR track pants, at first the pants were VERY tight. i thought that i got the wrong size. i could barely move in them and the boots (SMX 3 gore tex) made it much worse.

the first time i rode with the pants and boots, i couldn't even get my leg over the bike, pants were just too damn tight. i felt VERY uncomfortable and dangerous. my movements were very restricted. it was a pain in the ass to get in and out of the pants, i just wasn't used to wearing anything that tight before.

i then wore the pants for 2-3 hours a night, around the house, doing stretches and just laying around in the pants. it's been about 3 weeks, and the pants and boots feel great. i'm never going to wear anything other than full leathers ever again!

well, like steve said, it's not for everyone. i thought about it for a long time. my commute was only about 20-25 min long (one way). i felt like i was protected enough, wore a leather jacket, sturdy over the ankle boots, leather gloves, and knee guards under my jeans.

in the end i had to look at MY situation. my wife is a full time student, i have two small boys, one 4 and the other 17 months, and a job that i have only had for a little over a year. my job is our only means of surviving (medical insurance, vehicle ins, life ins, pre-school you name it)
my wife uses the car everyday for her school and running errands. i have to bike to work everyday, rain or shine. bottom line, i'm responsible for my own well being and safety. it would be irresponsible of me to not take such precautions. i don't care what people think, i've gotten some comments about my gear ( wanna be racer, overkill in gear, all this other shit) i don't care what people say, i answer to my family.

Sexy! But maybe a nice tie and jacket when you and the Mrs. go out for dinner eh? :D
Glad to hear they get better because my new leathers definitely "cramp da boys" if I try to stand up strait! And was just laughing about how I feel trying to swing a leg over the seat!! Dork! Good stuff that!
