View Full Version : Kansas City area, anyone?
I just bought a house in Kansas City, MO and bought my first non-80's bike, an '05 919. (Hooray!) There are probably not many more days or weeks in the riding season around here, but i just wanted to see if there was anyone on this forum in my neck of the woods. If so, post up here and we can get a ride going sometime.
Thanks!
DarkTint 10-29-2006, 10:58 PM Let me know if you ever venture out near St. Louis and we'll go for a cruise.
Sadly enough, it will probably be next year before i can make any real road trips. We're in the middle of remodeling and by the time we're done...well, it'll probably be too cold for this Southern boy to be outside on a bike.
But come Spring i'm sure we can find a place to meet between here and there. 8)
lettieavery 10-30-2006, 11:01 PM I'm not in Kansas City but I am in MO near Jefferson City. I am trying to buy a pretty banged up 599 to repair. I am hoping to be riding by spring.
Yeah, i saw that up on ebay in that thread. Sounds kinda rough, but you might be able to get a good deal on it...
I'll probably have a project bike one day. So far i've had a project car ('69 Camaro) and a project house (aka 'renters sh*thole'). So i'm sure i'll have a project bike somewhere down the line...
But good luck. Keep us posted on how it goes and i hope to see you on it in the Spring!

I'll document with pics as much as possible.
Anyone know of any good roads either in Kansas or Missouri? Come spring a friend of mine (he has a 600RR) and i want to go on a weekend riding trip...perhaps to any mountains that are nearby? I've heard the Flint Hills are beautiful. Anyone want to join us and/or recommend a nice route in this part of the country?

I don't really know of any roads but am interested in joining.
Cool. I'll keep this thread updated and keep you posted. Look forward to it!!!

The Flint Hills are nice, but for my money: Take a weekend and go to the Ozarks...So. Mo and No. Ark. Hilly and curvy. I've never done it on a bike, but drove from SE Kansas to Branson once...lots of fun if there is no traffic.
Are you on the good side or Missouri? :run (Sorry, grew up a Kansas boy.)
Cool. Thanks for the tip, pricelister. Will check it out for sure.
I'm in Missouri, about three minutes away from the state line, aka State Line Rd. (And no worries...we used to call it "misery" whenever we happened to be road tripping through it before moving.)
It took a little while, but we finally learned that Kansas was definately more well off than the MO side of things, generally speaking. One trip to Overland Park and we knew where all the money had gone.

Cool! It's great to finally find another rider up here in KC. I met a couple of guys in December when i stopped in a parking lot to see if a rider needed help. Turns out he needed a jump but was already expecting his brother to swing by. We swapped #'s...but it's great to find someone from this board. I'll drop you a line sometime soon, fo' sho'.
Stupid rain. It was nice all last week, but i was sick...now it's miserable and rainy...haven't ridden in over two weeks. Grrr.
ncv7557 07-25-2007, 09:24 PM I know i'm a little late to this thread but I'm a wichita rider and if you're willing to ride out of KC there are some great rides down south. The most popular one is called the "Cassady" run....you go around a lake and if you head down on a nice weekend you can find thousands of riders hanging around. Something you should be sure to try if you're up for a day ride...they've had as many as 10,000 riders down there before
Thanks for the tip, ncv. I'm always looking for nice roads to explore. I've been doing a lot of riding the past couple of months...don't have my 919 anymore, but still looking for a nice day trip here and there.
Could you be more specific as to where to go and how to get there? I'm fairly new to the area, so don't know much outside of KC.
Thanks!
wicasa 09-12-2007, 07:21 PM Hey,
I live in KC. Always riding with friends and others. Come down to the plaza on a Saturday or sunday and go to Latteland on 47th. Should be the obvious place with all of the bikes lined up out front. You'll usually find my yellow 599 out front also.
That goes for Adam also!!
Hope to hear from you guys.
