GREAT article Steve. I really enjoyed reading that.

What do you think about it? I'm curious what you think about their criticisms of the 919 since you own a 919.

I just looked at some of your pics and some videos on youtube...you have got one hot bike there my friend...

I'd almost be tempted to have my 599 repainted the same color as yours...

Very nice article indeed! Very well written, too.

Love the pictures...

I'm not Steve...but...

I don't know if they've changed them since then or what, but i found the side view mirrors to be very useful

It still has the jerky throttle response from a start, but i've only noticed it while riding around a parking lot or something similar. It's not an issue when you're taking off from a stop on the road...just when you're going on-off with very small part throttle.

The suspension on our bikes is different (I have the '05 and Steve has the '06) and fully adjustable preload and damping front and rear. I'm still sorting mine out as i've only had it for a few days, but so far it feels like it must be much improved from the earlier model they tested.

The wind buffeting at freeways speeds is noticeable as well. Going 60 and below it's no problem, but around 70 or 80 it can get a little tiring after a while. But if you do a lot of road trips just get a windscreen and slap it on. Or do what i do and just grin and bear it. It's no big thing for me.

Clutch is slightly firm and isn't comfortable to hold down for long periods. But you can always stick it in neutral.

But the highs: great brakes, awesome smooth engine, and uber comfortable seating position are much more important in a bike, IMO.

I think their criticisms are just their nit picking really. I mean they can't write an article with just good stuff. The bike is perfect for me, but not for everyone.

The Honda has what I valued most, more than the other bikes in it's class. I haven't really heard anyone say anything bad about it who's owned one.

You can get a can of factory red paint at ColorRite if you really want to. It looks better in person. Pictures and video don't do it justice.

That's the only color of the '06 919s.

I didn't paint it. But someday after it gets lots of scratches and dings I will. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

It cracked me up that the tester said the bike would not be good for long distance hauls. I've done two SaddleSore Iron Butt rides on mine, with a Bun Burner (1500 miles) scheduled the first week of May. It's a wonderful ride for long distances!

What was your previous bike...this may explain a lot!

It isn't uncomfortable but I wouldn't say it is like a couch!
