Ok. Did an oil change today. Found two hoses that are not connected to anything. Maybe I just never noticed it before. Can you guys tell me if these hoses are supposed to be disconnected...or are they supposed to be connected to something?? The photos are taken from the left side of the engine.

Pics below.

I didn't know if they are breather lines of some sort, or vacuum lines that should be connected to something. I couldn't find anywere to connect them. The bikes runs fine. I haven't noticed it runing weird or anything. I'm just sort of flipped out about two lines that are not connected to anything...

Your bike is ok. They are for venting. If you plug them, then you'll have a problem.

Gracias.

Out of curiosity, what do they vent?

WHen I saw them, they reminded me of my breather tube on my rear differential on my 4-runner. I was hoping they were something that were operating on a similar principle.

I just sort of flipped out when I saw them cause I never noticed them before.

If it matters, I changed my oil using Honda GN4 and a Honda Oil filter. I figure I'll wait till 5,000 miles to switch to synth.

One of them should vent the gas tank, and i'm guessing the other vents the crankcase.

Yup, they're perfectly normal, like Steve said. No worries.

I can't remember now since I'm at work and my brain usually turns off when I get here but I thought one was a battery breather tube. I saw that somewhere in the manual but can't remember when or where.

One is a drain from the fuel tanke air vent.
One is a radiator reserve tank overflow tube.

Ahhhhh...now that makes perfect sense...

If anybody is going to get confused by something...it WILL BE ME.

The 599 has a maintenance free battery. Otherwise the batt would have a tube that pop's out somewhere around there too.

Yeah, I realized when I got back to my garage that it's my other bike that has a battery vent tube.
