I just bought some however the guy at the shop I bought them from ordered 38 rather than 41 mm. so it doesnt fit the forks. If you would like to wait when I get the new ones in I can be your ginny pig haha

Hey guys sorry I kind of lost track with the thread...

The shop I used apparently doesnt know how to use a caliper.... ordered 3 different sizes and none of them fit so I started researching myself and will be ordering the new pair sometime this week, hold in there because this will be a sight to see.

As far as clearing the tank, that wont be an issue. Ill let u know as soon as their installed.

lol I sure hope not because I also wrecked this past week, so if clip-ons not working means one thing what does the wreck mean?

...wrecked this past week...what does the wreck mean?
There are only two kinds of motorcycle riders...ones who have wrecked and ones that haven't wrecked yet. (or something like that)

Hope you are alright but more importantly...how's the bike
Seriously though, hope you are not hurt...

Hey guys, Ill try posting pics tonight...They are installed and feels amazing, lol my dad feels a little uncomfortable on it and I could see how long hauls may be a little pressing but it just depends on what your looking for and the feel of the bike. I love em!

Please post a pic with the bars turned all the way too. I'd like to see how much clearance is left.

Here you go guys, Im going to make an attempt to post these. As far as the bars go I love them, they feel great.....but the mirrors now have to go, may replace them with some bar ends because they just look absolutely goofy with the clip ons....though the do work much better

there are also some pics that show the difference between the two bars as well as a pic of our modified turn signals....We had to move them down so they wouldnt interfere and you can see where the mounts were cut, sanded, and redrilled lower.

As far as clearance goes we left about a half inch from the tank but they can always go wider if necessary...what ever you prefer to be more comfortable.

freakin' nice, so here come the questions.

-can you go full steering lock?
-type/brand bars did you get?
-did you require new cables/lines, or just re-route?

man, that is a really aggressive riding style, i love it! some rear sets to position your feet back and higher and your good.

great job man!

Yeah man I fully agree with the idea of rear sets they are just so dang expensive, but well worth it for the combo....As I am sitting there I like to put my feet on the passenger pegs and the position feels great with the clip ons, lol it would be cool to find a way to reroute the controls back there haha.

Steering lock.... Yes it still works, doesnt interfere at all, and I have to say Im a wide shouldered guy, and the stock bars always seemed a little narrow for me and put a lot of pressure on the outside of my wrists...These definitely fixed that problem.

Type and brand I got were Vortex 48mm....and believe me I went through about 3 different sizes based off different measurements so I would say I definitely achieved the guniea pig status on this project.

As far as lines, just re-route all of them and it fits perfect, there was some concern on the bend angle in the clutch line but after taking out the turn signal mounts it too took out the awkward bend.

Dude, that is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Any you're right about the bar-end mirrors. That would complete the look.

Well just wanted to give a little update... With it being winter and all I dont get much riding time in but I did go out the other day for about 3-4 hours....

If your more of the touring kind these are not for you! they will be working muscles you didnt know you have... As far as cornering goes its absolutely amazing and fun for short trips or trips with semi-frequent stops.

Im sure the more I get aquainted with them the more Ill enjoy the ride, one more thing I have long arms so its not so bad but short armed people it may be a bit of a stretch.

thanks for the update. you think it's possibly for you to do a write up, on the install of those clip ons? i think a lot of people here would really appreciate it.
i know i would, thinking about doing clip ons myself.

either way, excellent mod. can't wait to see what you have going next.

Sure thing man, it wasn't too difficult but my dad did drill something a little off so Ill have to go back and redrill one bar anyway.

Stop wrecking already! :rant

Serously though.. be careful out there guys (and girls :0)!

NISxMO, if you don't mind, can you do a write up of what happened in the accident section? Perhaps your story and your lesson will prevent someone here from going down one day. Thanks!

Here is an update on the clip-on business .... the whole 43MM thing ... wont work on an '04. Didn't think about the whole conventional vs. inverted fork thing (duh).

(good thing I didn't pick that set up from you NISxMO after all eh)

Just got a set of Vortex 43MM clip-ons in black home today and not even close ... I'll have to order a smaller set. I'll let you all know when I figure out what size they are ...

Looks like I'll be the guinny pig for those without the inverted forks.

Yeah, I just got the bike painted (i'll post pics on a new thread when I get them) ... I'll order a set here in a few weeks or so, I shop at Cycle Gear, they have a great return policy, no restocking fee crap.

Not yet, monitary obstructions ... pretty sure they are 41 mm.

You can look at the bike specs in the bike info section and see. The forks are 41mm

I'm going to get some 41mm clipons becuase I want to do some track days and even the Renthal Ultra Low bar seems high for that type riding.
