I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent seat cowl for the 06 599. I also want to get rid of the silver Grab Rail and get a black one or just strip this silver one down and make it black ( if i do that i will definately post some pics).
Personaly i wont be going 2 up on a bike for a long time, so removing that whole back area of the seat wont hurt me to bad.
now i gota think of new rear sets :thinking

Geez, that looks really nice Ba55man! I was going to remove mine and add caps or get it powder coated but I'm thinking that painting it to match the red would be better. Certainly less expensive...
Nice!

Don't know if you've thought about just losing the rear grab bar. Personally I've become partial to the Rizoma grab rail caps...

I've been considering both options as of late. At first i was gonna do the Rizoma eliminators, but my wife does ride with me occasionally and really likes the bar...so i was thinking of spraying mine black so it blends in better. It's nice to have a pic of someone who did the same thing. I like the silver...looks nice...but i was thinking i might like black better, and you've proved me right.
Any special preparations to paint this thing? Did you just clean and spray it? Looks like you did a good job.
That's what holding me back too, jmd. I love the clean look of the tail without the grab rail and with the snow shovel cleaned up. But the grab rail is nice for passengers, wheeling around the garage, and getting it up on a rear stand. I think I may paint it first and see how I like it. Nothing to lose going this route first, and it's cheaper than the Rizoma caps (as much as I like them).

To prepare mine I give it a good going over with wet and dry paper then primered and then a few coats of satin black spray paint. A simple job and cheap as well.
I just remembered I laquered the grab rail with clear coat after the spray job just to toughen it up for day to day riding.
