I just ordered a pair of these from PJ's Parts to go on the 919:

Along with a pair of these:

I haven't gotten them yet, but PJ has been on top of things in replying to emails and calling me the minute my stuff was ready to be shipped so i could pay and have it shipped that same day. He even asked me to take some pictures of the mirrors on my bike for his catalog...and that'd be kinda cool...
Christmas is coming early this year. 8)
Super Sneaky Steve 11-24-2006, 04:17 PM Those mirrors look awsome.
I've heard lots of horror stories about the sliders. Sometimes they do more harm than good.

These are both pictures from a 919.
I'd rather just replace the primary covers and leavers than bust up my block.
I've heard the same thing, but the only time i've ever dropped a bike is in the driveway (once) or pulling away from a corner (once). That's what i really want the sliders for: momentary loss of coordination and brain farts. If i slide it bad enough to destroy the sliders and/or mounting points i'll probably be getting another bike anyways. (Assuming i'm ok physically, that is... )
But i can't wait for 'em to get here. If the forecast holds true, i've got good riding weather through Tuesday. Should get them before then...
mechanic77 11-25-2006, 10:25 AM yeh Turing had the rizoma sliders and they messed his bike up when he dropped it I ordered them from pj's also but when i got them i didnt like them so i got different ones still have them though

So what pictures are those again...? Not the rizoma sliders, afaik.
Well, i got the mirrors and sliders in yesterday. The mirrors are beautifully made and the fit and finish is amazing. (Of course for the price, they *should* be... ) I haven't installed the sliders since i don't have the exact size allen wrench required (8mm) or an open ended wrench that's big enough (17mm), but the mirrors were very easy, if tricky to line everything up the right way. Here are a couple of pics with 'em...

They are very functional and give a better panoramic view of what's behind you. I don't have to move my head or elbow to catch a glimpse of what's going on back there. Very nice...and much safer than before.
Bottom line: I'm very happy with them. They're lower and sleeker than the chrome 'mickey mouse' ears and go with the rest of the bike very nicely, i think. The surprise is that they're an improvement as far as functionality, as well. Who knew?? 8)
Really nice looking, jmd!
Looking good, man. Congrats on your purchase. :thumbsup
Super Sneaky Steve 11-28-2006, 08:14 PM They look really good. You might make me spend a bunch of money now.
Be sure they are on tight. I had my mirror come lose on the freeway after I installed mine. oops! :?
Thanks, guys.
Yeah, i didn't have the required 8mm allen wrench that the adapters use...but managed get it fairly tight anyway. But i did go and get the necessary tool tonight and will make sure to snug it up. Oh, and i also used thread locker on the other two bolts that go from the support to the adapter and the mirror to the support. They're not going anywhere.
vthoky 11-28-2006, 08:47 PM Well, fudge. I went to PJ's site and couldn't find that mirror. Got a link?
He hasn't had a link for it until tonight. I emailed him about the part earlier last week and he said he actually had it in stock but had not put it on the website yet. So i ordered them by email with the sliders. He asked that i take some pictures as he didn't have any of that mirror on a bike. So here's the link, and you might recognize the bike in the picture... :D

Super Sneaky Steve 11-29-2006, 05:33 AM Cool. Your bike is famous now! I might get the silver ones.
What did you pay OTD for everything? If you don't mind.
I paid $360 OTD for the sliders, mirrors, adapters and shipping. Definately not cheap, but i'm picky and when i find something i like... :P
tyler d 11-29-2006, 07:46 AM Stupid question...as they look so good...but how good is the view behind? :P
I can't make my mind up between Rizomas or bar ends...I figured bar ends give a better view...if a little smaller?
PJFZ1 11-29-2006, 07:49 AM HELLO! here I am!
John told me he was posting horrid things abotu us, so i figured I'd pop in and confirm them!
I can't post up on all the forums I belong to, but I try to pop in to answer questions when need be (of course an e-mail to us gets you an answer even more easily).
Steve, in answer to you $$ questuion - I believe we've got those mirrors ate $135 EACH, the mounting adapters are $12 each, and we charge $10 in shipping on a set of mirrors..
Yes, they're expensive, but list price is much higher and when you actually hold a part from rizoma in your hand and install it, you understand why the prices are what they are.. We also don't advertise or sponsor boards - If we keep our costs down we can keep our prices down for everyone instead of raising prices and offering "deals". We charge the same low prices for everyone.. BTW - We can get alot more than Rixoma parts - we get Braking rotors, MIVV Exhausts, Fabbri Screens, etc... we just don't list them all because we don't wnat more customers than we can handle with decent service.
Sorry to go into all that verbage, but it's the easiest way to tell you who we are.. please go check out our homepage, and snoop around at our ride pictures, FAQ's, and of course the parts, and shoot us an e-mail if we can answer a question.

Heck, we can fo really nice bar ends for less money... (yes, I'm evil sometimes).
damnage 11-29-2006, 08:40 AM Welcome aboard PJ! You can blame me for sending all these hooligans your way. I ordered a set of the Rizoma sliders for my 599 from you back in May/June of this year and was happy with your service and mentioned it in a thread or two on this board that you were a US distributor/dealer for Rizoma (and other stuff).
One quick note about the Rizoma sliders. I found that the supplied bolt for the LH slider was too short. Well, shorter than I'd like. I think it screwed on about two threads worth. So I went down to my local True Value hardware store and purchased one that was a little longer. Total cost was all of $2.00 and it provided peace of mind for me. IIRC, the supplied bolt's barrel length is 85mm. I went with a 90mm length.

DavidVTHokie 11-29-2006, 09:39 AM Nice site PJ. Welcome aboard. Let me know when you have the "buy one, get the other free" sale :D
PJFZ1 11-29-2006, 10:01 AM AHA! So it's all Damnages fault!
Thanks for the welcomes.. Seems like a nice group!
Stupid question...as they look so good...but how good is the view behind?
Well, this is kinda tricky to answer since the 919 has different stock mirrors than the 599...but the view is quite good and much better than the stock round mirrors. The way it's mounted (and you can adjust it even more) pushes the mirror further out so you don't have to move your elbow to check behind you. You also get more peripheral on the sides since it's wider than the stock roundies. I've never had the bar end mirrors, but my biggest reason for not getting them is that i know that if i drop the bike they'll be destroyed for certain, whereas these are out of harms way (unless you do something particularly nasty...and then the mirrors will be the least of your worries). Plus i don't really like the retro look as much as the modern look.
Are the bar end mirrors smaller? And the ones that actually hang under the bar seem like they'd be hard to view without moving your arm...but that's just how it seems to me...
Edit: The last picture i posted actually gives a pretty good idea of what they're like on the road. And they're also tinted to reduce glare. (Ooooooh 8) )
tyler d 11-30-2006, 01:17 AM Cool, thanks for the repsonse. Its wierd how something as simple as mirrors can make such a difference to the way a bike looks. They really suit the style of the hornet :P
yeroC 11-30-2006, 12:45 PM yeah JMD, those mirrors are cool and look sweet on the 919.
A little rich for me right now but maybe later. I agree with you
on the bar ends. Not that i'm trying to get into the habit of letting
my girl hit the ground but it seems that if it did, however slight, the
first thing to go would be the bar ends.
Right now i've just got some $30 carbon fiber "look" oval joints on.
They're OK, not great but at least functional. Maybe slightly less than
stock but they look a hell of alot better.
Hey PJ like your site!! I've visited a couple times shopping around.
Not sure about the Rizoma sliders yet though.
whut kind do you have mechanic and where'd you get 'em?
Mr.Boom 07-26-2009, 06:17 PM Those look like great mirrors. I've been wanting to get ride of my "Mickey Mouse" mirrors for a litle while now.
Do you find it tight getting your hand under the mirror, or is there ample room? (It looks tight in the photos)
Also, what is the material they are made of??
Thanks.
JWAJack 07-27-2009, 12:08 PM It's not tight, though I also added some extenders to mine to push them out further. The mirrors are made of a "blue" glass and I think the metal is aluminum, but I could be wrong. I've found the give a good view behind, and they're a sweet addition to the bike. If you go on the pictures page, there are a few threads that show off bikes with the Rizoma Radial Nakeds.
