We get some great products and provide really good pricing, and are members on lots of boards.

We also don't sponsor boards, as we keep the prices low for everyone instead of raising prices and offering "deals"

I don't see a vendor policy, and want to be careful not to break any rules, but would love to post up stuff we think the members would like...

So can I, or should I stay away from doing it?

You need to contact Alex for that.

Personally I'd hate to see the boards full of spam.

We could always make a vendor sectionthat has aproved vendors?

like they do for most car forums (examples)

I wouldn't mind a vendor section that allows approved vendors that we've had good experiences with (like PJ) to post up some goodies. (Basically exactly what Chris G just said.) That way if you're not interested, you don't have to go to that section in the first place...and if you do...it'll be easy to access and find. But i would like to keep the existing sections (like "Accessories and Modifications") free of any ads or opinions other than those of the non-incorporated and unaffiliated members.

Guys - I Guess Alex runs the forum? I guess I could send him a PM..

I'm not looking to Spam - a vendors section that an admin polices might be just the thing.. and members could post good/bad experiences in a vendors thread to keep only good ones posting, or maybe it should just be for members to post thier experiences and point to vendors (heros/zeros forum?), but that wouldn't make me able to post specific products.

Of course, this is all the call of whoever is in charge, just throwing ideas out there. If it's decided that vendor posts aren't welcome at all I accept that.

Yup. Alex is the guy you'll want to talk to about it.

Sounds like you have some other good suggestions as well. I'm sure Alex will find the best way to work it all out...he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders when it comes to forum management. He's done a great job so far!

Dredit card? That might be right, I dread the bill coming in every month but I doubt I'd dread some Rizoma sets.

Someone should set up a poll to see everyones opinion about having a section strictly for vendors. I think it's a great idea. If it doesn't work out it can always be removed.

My god, how many sections are we going to have?

I think that's a great idea.. I know some boards get over-run with vendors, but those tend to be the bigger boards who charge "Sponsors" to be vendors.
Some riders don't want to see vendor posts on thier boards at all, and a poll would let the members decide.. .. Good idea!

Of course - It's Alex' call - he's the one who gets to do all the work, and running a board is alot of work.

The only problem I have is when a board has a set of "sponsors" and they moderate any comments that mention their sponsors' competitor's products. That's just stupid. I don't want a bias board.

Not only is it a lot of work but it costs him money.

So if vendors profit from the site it's only fair to share some of that. Wouldn't you think?

I agree if there's alot of that going on.. Most boards $$$ are readily covered by the members. If vendors are making big $$ from those boards they should pay. We do pay to support our "home" board, and not as vendors, but as members.

The comment about editing competitors posts? Yep, that crap goes on.. I know of two boards where post concerning us (not even made by us) were deleted because a sponsor didn't like members posting the deals they got from us.. it becomes a political mess when you get into paying sponsors also..

Alex in in the best position to decide where to go with this - like I said, we don't want to break any rules.
