Has anyone tried removing their headers to clean them? I really want to spend some time and polish mine up but dont want to be reaching under there the whole time. I figure it would he easier to just remove them...
I assume it can't be that difficult right? A few bolts taken off and tighened in the right order right?
Let me know if anyone has done this before.
Thanks!

If your bike is like mine, you'll need to remove the radiator bolts as well to move it out of the way for clearance.
When putting them back on be sure to order a new gasket. Even the reuseable ones aren't really reuseable.
Torque specs are good for something like that as well. If it's too loose they will vibrate loose on the road. (ask me how I know this  )
If they are too tight you'll snap the bolt or warp the headers (you could ask me now I know that as well  )

Could you do a YouTube POV on that? On my old "thumper" every time I parked it and wiped it down I'd find a bolt that had worked looks. Amazing I never actually lost one. Blue LocTite was my friend.
I agree with you eligonis, it is really an eyesore on the bike (maybe now I get the whole belly pan thing). I've polished mine twice and think it tarnished twice as fast after each time. Gave up for the most part.
Keep thinking about that Jet Hot company...If I ever see a spare set of headders on eBay...
