I'm curious (constantly)... wonder what the ratio of black 599s to yellow 599s looks like within our membership.

So far, I'm actually surprised that the numbers are so unbalanced. I thought we'd be a lot closer to 50/50 that this. But then again, there are only like 7 votes at the time of this posting.

As long as it was black.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that. Hey, SSS! Aren't the 919 rims black? And aren't they the same size as 599 rims? ( Now, don't anybody go storming over to Steve's house... that's not where I was headed with that! )

Yup, mine are black and the same size. I'm not sure if they would fit in the swing arm the same though. You may need different spacers.

If you're looking for snazzy wheels but don't want to sell your left nut to get them look for some CBR F3 wheels. They look really cool. It's a popular mod with the SV crowd.

I could add Asphalt to the poll, but then all the people who whave asphalt who voted "black" will not be able to change their vote. There are more problems with adding a new category this late in the game as well as I'm sure you all understand.

The only thing I can do is help you delete this thread so you can start a new one. Is this something you'd want? The rest of you guys feel free to chime in on this.

Augh! Statistics! They make my head hurt! Do we need to take a poll to see whether people would like to have a new color poll?

How 'bout this: I'll go ahead and apologize to the Asphalt owners for having left them out. (I'll have to apologize to Tyler as well, for leaving out the Matte Blue. Anybody got the UK orange?) We'll leave the thread as-is, and the Asphalt owners, as insulted as I may have left them, can decide for themselves whether to chime in as "black" or as "other" or not at all.

What ever happened to the whole "Guy's color spectrum" anyway, where we fellas put up the argument that we only see a dozen or so colors so as to avoid having to deal with the wife's wanting to paint the bedroom "taupe" or "mauve" or "sandstone" or some other similarly vague paint name? :?

Simply knowing what "mauve" is, is an instant man card violation.

The probationary period lasts at least a month or until the man in question has watched all of the Delta Force movies starring Chuck Norris.

JMD, you don't honestly expect that Steve and VThoky understand the nature of women do you? Surely you must remember previous posts (taken from Alex's thread) from these two jokers:

...If I has a hot girlfriend I'd worry too much about her. I need a chick with lower self-esteem...

Clearly Steve is a man who is afraid of women. He must have been hurt so long ago by some woman...possibly one who was dissatisfied with the fact that he didn't know what color mauve is? Women with confidence and high self-esteem expect more from a man than Steve is able to offer...after all we can't really expect him to play in to all that color stuff that confident self-respecting women look for in a man, can we?

...you also have to be careful how well you treat your woman. If you're too good to her she will look for more of a challenge elsewhere...

Really now? How's that working out for ya Steve?

That's why the a-holes get all the hot chicks. Now if you ask girls why this is they will deny it, but that just proves that they are really crazy.

Er...right. It's all a big conspiracy by all the hot chicks against Steve. Maybe this is Steve's way of coping with the fact that he doesn't want to drop the "man card" and be a little more sensitive; and realizing that until he does he's just not going to get a "hot chick."

Now..onto VThoky.

There's some old song whose chorus begins, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, Never make a pretty woman your wife."

The essence of it is that the hot chick will always have some joker chasing after her and trying to pry her from you

You have attended the Steve's School of How Not to Get Chicks a little too long. There may still be hope for you Vthoky. Get off Steve's wagon before it's too late. You can do it. Forget all the "man card" B.S., and tap into a little more sensitivity. There has to be a balance here, that is the key.

Come on Vthoky, you're riding a Hornet for God's sake, you're already gay . If you really wanted to play the man card you would be on a liter bike...ok?

JMD, you can lead a horse's ass to water, but you can't make him drink.

Looks like "Mr.Sensitive" has it all figured out!

It also looks like "Mr. Sensitive" is getting some...as well as having a bike (and even a dog if he wanted). If you get the right girl and treat her right you won't have to fight her to get all that other stuff. She'll love and respect you enough to let you be yourself and do the things you love to do (as long as that doesn't have anything to do with you cheating on her  ). Then you've got it all. You don't HAVE to give up the girl for all those other things there, Steve. Adtmit it: you're just scared of 'em and afraid to admit that those of us who have done the whole 'wife and family thing' have more balls now than you ever will. ;)

Women really aren't all that bad. Complicated and confusing sometimes...but not bad. Just stay away from the flakes and you'll be just fine.

Way to go, GP. :thumbsup And hope you guys and the little one are doing well.

PS I love you, Steve! :D

I don't think afraid is the right word. I was with the same girlfriend for five years so that's almost like being married.

Just look at how there is a 50% divorce rate in this country and I bet a larger percentage of those who don't get divorced arn't even happy. It's just too much of a hastle to sepperate.

Most relationships start well, but reality turns out more to be like Jerry Springer than Cinderella.

Anyway, I hope those of us who are tying the knot get lucky and you never find yourself on a talk show with a secret to be revealed.

Obviously written from someone who has never been married. My friend, dating for 5 years is NOT anything like being married. Anyone who is married will tell you that. My relationship with my wife is every bit as good, actually better, since marriage. But, being married is very different. Marriage has its own set of rules and stressors.

Just look at how there is a 50% divorce rate in this country and I bet a larger percentage of those who don't get divorced arn't even happy.

Actually divorce rates are ~3.7 per 1000 persons in the US; hardly 50% as you claim. But again, the "50%" figure was spoken from someone who is not married. Regardless of what the figure is, I wonder how many of those divorces could have been avoided if the husbands had been a little more "sensitive." Would you like me to pull up the data for you?

Who knows, I may get married too someday, but whatever happens I'm keeping my dog and my bike!

With that attitude Steve, IF you do get married (and any self-respecting confident woman wouldn't fall in to it with you), I assure you it will not last. You can't go in to marriage set on what you will and will not do. What if after 10 years of marriage your wife develops a hypersensitivity to canines? Are you just gonna say, "sorry I'm keeping the dog?" There are all sorts of things that play in to our decisions in marriage. You never know what might or might not happen. I know this is a far fetched example, but thanks for bearing with me.

Steve, one day you will realize being "sensitive" is for REAL men. Those of us who are confident in our manhood need not rely on the stereotypical attributes of a "man" to define who we are as men. But then, I've only been very happily married for 3 years (come february 28 of this year) and very happily dating my wife since april 1998. So, obviously I'm no expert. 8) 8)

Women really aren't all that bad. Complicated and confusing sometimes...but not bad. Just stay away from the flakes and you'll be just fine.

You are so right. Women are not that bad. As I feel sure you know, it takes a little give and take from both in the marriage. As long as both of you are giving a little and taking a little, the balance is kept intact. A good woman understands this concept as well. If you are a smart man, you will have come to realize whether your "to be wife" understands this or not. If she does, all is good. If she does not understand, you are a fool for marrying her to begin with.

The little one is very well, the wife is very happy, and so am I. It's really cool to me that you are expecting as well JMD. It's neat to have another board member in the same boat as I am. Now why the hell did you have to go and leave NC?

Oh Steve, I, like JMD, love you too. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you, though I do think that if you would "bend" just a LITTLE you might find things easier in the way of relationships etc. To each his own. :)

Well. I guess first I just have to say "Ouch!"

Then I can go on and ask Moto if he's been in touch with my friend Jon's girlfriend. She's got a whole lecture prepared on "Sportbikes are gay." I'll have to see if I can find that ... if I can, then I'll PM it to ya. For what it's worth, Jon's a VTX1300 rider, looking to swap to a VTX1800.

Then I can say that I have, on occasion, ridden my wife's brother's Yamaha R1. That says several things. One: he's evidently more manly than me. (Sure enough, he's bigger, stronger, faster, meaner, and all around tougher than me. And he's got a liter bike. But I still have [most of] my hair, doggone it! :D ) Second, it says I have at least "on occasion" ridden a liter bike, and that I'm comfortable saying that it scared the crap out of me. After I got past the horrific cramp in my hip, of course.

As for marriage, this past weekend marked 13 years for me and my wife. In terms of man toys, that's three motorcycles (had one before we got married and one when we got married), one WaveRunner, a couple of shotguns, a variety of pistols (hers and mine), one sports car, two trucks, two dogs, and three mountain bikes. As she's put up with me for this long, I'd say it looks like I must've failed out of Steve's School of How Not to Get Chicks. And surely some of the just-mentioned activities allow me to hold onto the man card a for a little while longer, right? Come on Steve, gonna help me out on this one?

Now it's time for me to grow a beard and practice my farting techniques.

Jon's girlfriend also seems to have a problem with the farting. What's up with that? She wasn't crazed when Jon asked her to go with him to the Honda Hoot, as she thought it would involve "strip clubs and a lot of farting." I can't grow a good beard, Steve, but Jon and I are ready to sign up for farting practice.

And as for you, Moto, I think your wife's pregnancy has probably twisted your sensitivity dial a little further to the plus side than you realize. :D (But honestly, I think that's great for you and I wish you and Mrs Moto and Young Moto the best. There. There's my sensitivity for the day.)

Paraphrasing Steve again here: we're all friends and I, too, can take a good thrashing now and then. My grandfather used to say: "No fool, no fun. If it wasn't for us, there wouldn't be none." It's good to be able to have some fun with you guys (and gals), and know that there's no harm done.

A happy weekend to all, and to all a good night.

PS: Thanks, Alex, for clarifying "'04 Yellow" and "'06 Black."

Sorry 'bout that. I was a bit short-sighted when I started the poll, only offering black and yellow as choices. Boy, have I taken heat for that! Alex managed to update the descriptions to '04 Yellow and '06 Black, but by then there was the possibility that the Asphalt owners might have selected either "Black" or "Other," and there was no nice way of undoing those votes.

Next time I put up a poll, I'll try to get my head out of my undertail first so as to have proper perspective!
