looks pretty cool but do you have to hold on to the cap when you fill up?

It screws off. It's a bit of a pain to make sure you don't drop it when you fill up and it doesn't lock. It looks damn good though. Worth it to me.

+1, keeps unscrupulous cagers from f*ing with your fuel. But I have to admit, that new cap looks damn good!

I understand the concern over it not locking...but it looks awesome! I guess if someone wanted to f*ck with your bike they are going to do it anyway...I'd be surprised if someone randomly notices that your petrol cap doesn't lock...and then decides to do something malicious.

I'd just poke a small hole into the radiator hose... PIA that doesn't cost $ that won't be noticed till a couple of blocks down the road. Ask me how I know about that :evil:

Cap looks nice thought...only turn off for me is a loose cap at the pump...

Two things that you should try, first put on some black hex bolts to see how they look. Second Epoxy a strong magnet to the inside of the gas cap so you can just place it somewhere on the bike at the gas station so it isnt loose.

Chris, both good ideas. I want to put on black hexs as soon as I find some. i don't think painting them would be that good in the long run but I may as a temporary solution. These bolts aren't your average ace hardware ones :(

Don't be too sure, my Ace has all sorts of trick metric bits... it is near a Truck Stop though so maybe special. They'll only have a few of anyting odd but they can get more, just ask. In my office I have black ones but they are steel so would rust. But anyway, ask the Ace guy where they get their hardware from, it will probably be a local screw and bolt company...then go there and buy at their counter. I've found two great local bolt suppliers that way. :thumbsup They ain't cheap but when you need it today they are fast!

Just want to let other 599 riders know what is out there for their bike. Part of the reason this company started was that I couldn't find good and inexpensize parts for my 599. I figuared other 599 riders felt the same.
