im plaining on welding togather a oil filter wrench and a handle 2 get around the header as soon as i get pics ill post em you guys think its a good idea? does honda already make one?

I use one of these, but I prefer a strap wrench.

I been using a large pair of channel locks. Cheap ones from discount tool stores work fine and they have many uses elsewhere, that is if you make sure they are within functional tolerance.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting a tool like this. Most motorcycle parts shops carry a package that comes with a filter and tool. It will make life much easier when it comes to changing your filters. In the UK if you buy a GENUINE honda oil filter, Honda has two parts, with slightly different part numbers... The second one comes with a FREE filter wrench just like middle one in the above picture by DarkTint!

Over here there is NO price differnece between teh two, but usually the dealer has to order in the one with teh wrench... (It takes 2 days here)

Great info here.

Personally i just use a K&N filter with the nut welded on the end of it. No fancy tools required, just a 1" socket and you're good to go. I've also used honda filters...either one is high quality...i mostly do it for the convenience of the nut.
