Any idea if that seat cowl will fit an 06? I know I asked about a similar one on the uk forum and they didnt think it would....then again it may have been a 919 cowl, anyway let me know...bike looks great!

Beautifull bike, Scott! My girl didn't even realize that it was a Hornet! Great job with the mods. :thumbsup

Thanks for the comments guys :D

That seat cowl wouldn't fit an 06 bike as the new bike's lines are much sharper and less rounded. I believe Ermax make one for the 05/06 model.

Scott,

Just for giggles, have you ever done a rough estimate on the total cost of your Hornet Hobby?

Wish I had the $ and time, just happy to ride mine when I can (usually to work and back!)

Anyway, Nice to see you over here...

Just for giggles, have you ever done a rough estimate on the total cost of your Hornet Hobby?

I have a list of all the money I've spent on modified parts for her, that doesn't include stuff like tyres, brakes, oil and other bits like that. It is seriously password protected so the wife can't get near it.

At a rough estimate, on the version in the first picture, there is about £4,500 worth of parts on her...That's not including all the bits I still have in the garage and all the bits I've had on her and then sold on to fund other modifications........Now you've managed to scare me...I think I will get the other bike ready and leave the Hornet in the garage

That isn't to say I've actually spent all that on the version in the picture, a lot of the parts were discounted or picked up cheap but even allowing for that, I must have spent £6,000 on her over the years

Scott,

Makes my heart warm to see how much you obviously enjoy it. Can't put a price on passion...however, at 1 British pound = 1.9525 U.S. dollars ... Yeaoza! Bless you :bow

ScottUK

was it worth the money?

Not really had the chance to try her out properly as the weather has been pretty crap since I finished her but she certainly feels a lot better when I have had her out. I forgot to mention the gearing changes from a standard sprocket set up of 15/42 to 15/45 which increases acceleration and helps lift the front end.

Nice work fella, that is one mean looking Hornet. You have done so much but it somehow gels into a full bike...neat trick :) Amazing how the Big H copied your under slung exhaust for the 07 model as well!

And Andy looks sore ass.

I will let Andy explain that one.

If I remember correctly Andy is running a 14/48 sprocket set up and 2 minutes after we finished building it we took it for a test ride in the pissing rain.....After telling Andy to be careful.......As we turned on to the dual carriageway he took of like a bat out of hell leaving the other two Hornets behind.....So much for taking it easy...Eh Andy!!!!

Just took a peak at this thread-wow!
Looking at your bikes, I don't understand why Americans, on the whole, don't like nakeds (specifically, the best selling bike in Europe-the Hornet) as much as Europeans.
Those bikes look absolutely awesome!

We were all too busy riding to take action shots.....Well, unless you count the beer session in the pub

(tip toeing here, don't want to say Stars and Stripes and offend!)

It's definitely a Stars and Stripes bike :D

I really like the swing arm on the Stars and Stripes bike...is that from a 600RR? And of course the single-sided (Interceptor?) swing arm is pretty nice, too. The other ones...look a little funky to me. Like they're mounted upside down or something...

But overall i like the way each bike has been, um, 'extensively modified' and are unique. Very cool.

ScottUK
04-04-2007, 12:22 AM
Yes, Daryl's 900 (919) has a CBR600RR swing arm. Andy's has a VFR800 ? one. Mine and Steve's bikes have the same make of swing arm but (as we found out on Sunday) they are still noticeably different.

But overall i like the way each bike has been, um, 'extensively modified' and are unique

That is part of the fun of a Hornet, you can stick 60 or 70 bikes in a car park and there will always be a few that are identical to each other but stick 60 or 70 Hornets in a car park and there are invariably differences between them. :D
