OK!! I got the price. The lines were just released last week so that's why it took so long.

Retail for Russell brake lines front and rear: $110.

Our group price: $80.

Please pm or email me your email so I can send out a paypal invoice and such. All legit here.

I will post photos on how they fit on the next post.

Thanks guys!

Can someone please explain to me why these are better than the stock break lines. (Side note: I'm not trying to be a d*ck here, this is a sincere question.)

Alex i asked the same question

Does this increase any performance aspect of the bike or is this strictly aesthetic?
Should offer a bit more modulation (control) and not get as soft under a lot of heavy braking...

Expect a firmer feel. The rubber lines will expand a little giving them a slight "squishy" feel. The steel won't flex.

The steel lines will also last longer. Rubber lines should be replaced every 4 years to be safe. I usually do my front lines but I leave my rear stock because you don't want any extra power back there.

If you want more power you can try a better pad like the HBC HH pads. They have more metallic content so they may ware the rotors faster, so it's a trade off.

I have the Galifer stainless steel lines and I paid just for the back one $89 and for the front one $115 not cheep. But they are worth the weight in gold!! :D Very noticeable improvement over the stock rubber lines very firm pressure. You will have to bleed the crap out of the system that I can tell you, and take your time do not rush. Brake fluid eats paint so be careful cover every thing you can and drain the brake fluid reserve first.

Wow you paid 200 for the set! To bad Russell didn't have their lines out sooner. But I guess you had the benefit of having them much earlier.

80 bucks for the full set is a bargain. I know im going to get a set myself. I'm going to put in the order next week so hopefully you guys are still interested. I'm not marking it up...this is the price they quoted me.

Sorry Morceau,

I was informed it was a full set.

Hey guys,

The lines were ordered and it will take 6-10 days. So hopefully next week at the earliest.

Thanks

I've been in and out of town a good bit lately and haven't kept up with the forum.

I didn't realize the order had already been placed until today.

I do know from research that $80 for front and back SS brake lines is a LEGIT deal and that it usually costs $200+ for both.

A friend of mine got SS lines and he said it makes a difference.

Thanks

ok a number of people expressed wanting lines as well. Can i get s how of POSTS to see how many people still want them? I asked my friends shop and he says anything less than 4 sets wouldn't be worth it for him. So if you guys want some lines then lets get 4 more people in together.

Got mine today! Pioneer... thanks for organizing everything. 'Preciate it.

Is there a post that covers installation of these bad boys? Is it straight-forward or does anyone just recommend having a shop do it?

Ok, I am admittedly way slow on the uptake, but have been looking for some SS lines for the front only. I am assuming that Russell makes a direct fit for the 599? If so, why can't I find these anywhere (ie. catalogue, online, etc.)?

Slide
04-17-2007, 07:07 AM
The deal was both but I guess you could just get the front... they come separately. And yes, they are made specifically for the 599. PM Pioneer and maybe he'll hook you up with his friend.

My two cents.

Braided lines a must. If you would let me know how you like the Russell's.
Haven't put any on in a while but should be pretty straighforward. If you ride hard don't chince on the fluid and be careful when you grab a fist full of brake they tend to be not as forgiving as stock lines.

I really don't use my rears much and they lockup so easy I don't know if I want to make it any easier to do.

As far as bleeding haven't tried it but gravity might get most of the work done for you. Pop the cap, crack the bleeders and see what happens.

Yup, that's exactly why I am only looking for the fronts. I've been to an advanced rider school (track experience), and all instructors suggest agaist SS for the rear for that very reason.

Gotta love these lines. Has anyone else felt a better comfort in knowing that the back brake is not going to lock up so easily?
