I've seen a few posts with people with soft luggage strapped to the passenger seat, but I've not seen anyone who actually *has* a topcase on their 599.

I've seen one person who had a mount and it looked... "interesting" but I didn't see the top case on it. I'd presume a GIVI...?

I kinda dislike having to go fetch my scooter in order to do anything related to buying something. My Icon tank bag works ok but certainly does not have the storage I'm used to with my scoot that has both a top case that fits a full face, and under seat storage, where combined I can get around 6 plastic bags of groceries in there. Granted, I don't want the 599 to be a pack mule but I also don't want to feel like I can't get a pack of toilet paper back home if I have it.

(btw, I like the idea of the Givis because normally you can remove them from their base so if I go on a ride that involves the twisties I won't be murderlating miself due to the messed up weight distribution)

I never even heard of a "topcase" before that post so not here. I don't even like luggage. I understand the requirement but I'm a minimalist. I like the clean lines of the bike and whatever I can't fit in my pocket, isn't important to me.

I definitely don't disagree with the clean lines. Hence my "interesting" with quotes... the mount for the top case kinda wrecks the curves of the 599 a bit from the one I saw, but somewhere in there I kinda wonder if it's worth the trade off.

Sigh. Utility is such a pain in the ass. I'd much rather ship my stuff to and from my starting points and destinations, and just catch up to it (or beat it there) on my bike ;)

That's a funny mount, but it looks fairly unobtrusive. Can you give me a link? Model? What should I ask for?

Roughly how much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking? I presume you'll give me a euro amount ;)

I tend to buy off e.bay and if I am not mistaken I got the Givi Rack and case for the Hornet for about £60 GBP and on the CBF it was £25 for the rack and £60 for the top box.

Haven't done any spending yet, but GIVI makes some really nice looking soft luggage so you don't have to mess up your bike's lines with mounting hardware that might not come off cleanly. Here are some links to a matching set I'm thinking about getting.

I'm told all the above would cost about $450 bought together. They also make some pretty cool looking all-black bags, though the tank lacks a map window and there's no tail bag.

Update: Just got a Givi E450 topcase with an SW-Motech luggage rack. Here's a picture (http://www.twistedthrottle.com/imagecatalogue/imageview/3955/?RefererURL=/trade/productview/157/78/). Without the mounting plate and case on, it almost sorta looks stock, if you squint. Got mine in black.

can you post a picture with the case attached? I recently bought the SW-Motech luggage rack in black, but haven't bought a case yet. I am having a hard time visualizing the size of the cases to the bike.

Here's how the topcase looks on my bike. It's a 45 liter box, so it's about as wide as me (at shoulders). Holds a good bit of stuff, though.
