The 599 has been a great first bike, but I made the mistake of going and looking at new bikes last weekend and bought this.

My 599 still looks brand new 7,300 miles if anyone is So Cal interested in buying it. I will be posting in the for sale section.

Traitor!

Nice looking CBR though. I'd love to have one, but the agressive riding position would not work well for me for rides longer than about 20-30 minutes.

+1. You got a nice looking bike there.

I thought so too. I was planning on keeping the 599 because of the upright riding position ( I am 40yrs old) and I commute 50 miles in traffic to work on the bike sometimes -- also I have so much money in it and it is less than a year old.
However afte riding only the CBR for a week and 900 miles, I was sore the first day and that was it.
I rode the 599 yesterday after I cleanded it up and there is no comparison between the way 2 handel, the CBR -- to me-- is way more stable. So the 599 would just be sitting -- so I am going to go ahead and sell it.

Very nice ride. I recently just bought a CBR myself (the older '01 model) and it's such an easy bike to ride and maneuver. I love the Hornet, but the CBR has a special place in my heart, too. Happy trails.

I can understand you wanting to get a CBR. I understand you wanting to be like everyone else and just fade in to the crowd. It's tough riding a Hornet and getting noticed all the time because you're on a naked. I can see where you would want to blend in with all the other crotch rockets. Some people would rather have an ordinary every day CBR…I mean…everyone else has one…right?

I'm an attention junkie. I like standing out and being noticed. I like the fact that I don't blend in. I need to be seen…so I stick with my Hornet. Some of us are leaders, and some of us are followers…it's pretty clear which side of the fence you walk on.

On a serious note, if I had to pick another bike right now, it would be the new ZX-6. Your CBR is beautiful though.

I would hate to have to decide on a new bike right now. Between the R6, CBR 600RR, ZX-6, and GSX-R…I don’t have a clue which one I would pick. I would be so lost. The differences in them are negligible to a street rider.

Either way, you've got a beautiful bike there…I just had to take a few jabs. :D

Nice ride and you went with the understated colour scheme too.. nice. The GXR600 has a black and dark grey colour scheme too which works like a dream too. Congrats!

What mirrors do you put on your 599?

Sweet ceeb!! But i gotta kinda go with moto on this one. Too many
of 'em along with gixxers and harleys. i've only seen one other yellow
599 round these parts and i like it like dat. No lie must have seen
at least 5 ceebs today most of them black or black and red.

But still a sweet bike, don't get me wrong!!! 8)
Enjoy bro!!

Most people don't choose a bike for looks alone. CBR is a better performing bike than the 599... and looks... that's in the eye of the beholder.

That's actually one of the main reasons i didn't buy a CBR to begin with, even though from everything i read, etc, it seemed like exactly what i wanted. So instead i bought a 919, partly because they're much more rare, partly because i like the looks, comfort, etc. But then i rode the '01 CBR for the first time and completely fell in love with it. The main thing is that it feels SO much lighter than the 919...which for me is a big plus. I can handle the 919 just fine, but it has fallen over on me once unexpectedly. The CBR i can catch even if it's almost all the way to the ground...and you can lean it over so far just winding through traffic...it's just so much easier maneuvering it at slow speeds. I kinda hate blending into the crowd so much, but i must say that i enjoy riding the CBR a little more than i do the 919. And at half the price...it's hard to beat.

(And no, it's not really uncomfortable...not like my friends '03 RR. I've ridden it for close to two hours without getting sore. I think having long arms really helps...well...that and a tough little butt.  )

I'm goin the other way. The 599 is plenty sporty for me so my next bike is a Triumph Bonneville. Not a Harley twin but a Brit. Something about it...the sound...the comfort...the uniqueness. Don't worry. I wouldn't give up my 599...although my cousin did offer me his Monster s2r... :?

My buddy has the Speedmaster (same engine I think) and it has quite the sound and as a cruiser, it's unique and more sporty.

I know the CBR's are common. I had it narrowed down to the GSXR 750 and Triumph Daytona 675 (I don't see many Daytona 675's around so I don't think they are as common as other sport bikes here) and then when I was looking at the Suzuki I Saw the Honda and it just felt the most comfortable to me. I spent about an hour going between the two -- the same dealer had the Suzuki and the Honda. Since I am still basically a newbie it was all about felling comfortable, not just looks

A buddy of mine is going to get the GSXR750 and I may get the Daytona when I sell my 599 - that way I can ride all three for a while and see which one I like the best. These motorcyles get expensive since you basically have to buy to try. :-) -- I told him if he let's me ride the GSXR he can ride the 2 I have and then we both will get to see which of the 3 we like the best.
I know Triumph offers test rides but the dealers I went 2 said they haven't had a Daytona for test rides in 6 or 8 months.

I agree the 599 is more rare and I did like that also. I think since I bought mine in june I have seen no more than 3 when I have been out riding here in Southern California.

Yeah i like the speedmaster, but the seating position is different. On a bonnie you're sitting as if you're sitting on a chair. Straight back and almost 90 degress on your legs.

I feel ya 7323!! 8) At least you're still ridin' Honda!! Can't beat
Honda quality IMO. And for the record i DO like cbr's and Kawi ZX6s.
But i do still appreciate the rareness of the 599. I'm sure i'll upgrade
in a couple years. But i'm keepin the 599. 8)

Just seen the photo's of your new bike and it looks awsome. The Hornet is my first bike and I wanted to break the usual crotch rocket bike thing. Now my bud has me looking at his CBR600RR. Nice and accessories are everywhere to personalize it. Anyway, Where did you get the mirrors for the 599 as they really set off the bike and I am interested in knowing how to go about locating the dealer. Thanks

Very nice dude.. I would like a new bike too. But we just had our first baby and it is like having a car payment! Dam kids are expensive. That little bugger is costing me around $420 a month with baby formula and dippers. So no new bike for me now :( .. I will have to wait and keep my eyes out for a good buy. I am thinking RC51 used or a new CBR 1000RR next one has to be a 1,000 CC bike..

Shit dude, i'm soooo glad we had kids early. My son is 16 and
baby girl is about to be 13. My wife and i look back and wonder how
the hell we made it with the money we were making then. Formula,
diapers, day care for an infant(fokking ridiculous!!!), rent, bills,
something always poppin' up when you least need it.
We both have good jobs so we're doing well now but damn them
salad days...! Now i'm able to get the toys i've wanted and couldn't
afford. Had to watch my bro and all my boys get hot bikes and cars
and live the single life to the fullest. .
It's all good, now they're all tied down with little babies and no
bikes and i'm spreadin my wings. Lookin' to get a hooptie to restore
for fun--72 Cutalss or 71 Pontiac GTO. When it's all said and done
gotta have a couple bikes, nice car, restored hooptie, small boat,
small truck to pull boat and a RV. Am i asking too much  ??
Gotta live it to the fullest!!!
