I dropped my bike and it landed on the handle bars, bending the break lever. I was looking at trying to replace it, but it looks a little confusing. Can the average person do this easily unassisted?
Thanks.

I saw the symbol and I came running.
Yes, it's easy. Just start taking things appart gently. It's hard to explain right now and I'll have to take a better look at my bike.
If you haven't figured it out by Friday I'll take mine appart and make a video for you. Good luck!
It's so hard! Not really. I was scared, but I had faith that if I messed it up, someone here would bale me out. Turns out all ya got to do is unbolt it, and it comes right off. I thought it might be weird with the hydrolic clutch, but its easy. I was able to straighten out my lever in a vice. So i am happy.
Brake lever is a SIMPLE change. Don't even need to be overly nice to the bike.
Grab an 8 mm wrench and a large flathead screwdriver.
Slip the box end of the wrench over the end of the crown nut on the bottom and break it loose (Left is loose). Once it's loose get the screwdriver in the slot at the top, and start twisting. The nut will fall off before you can remove the screw/pivot bolt. This is because the housing is also threaded.
Once you've gotten the pivot bolt (screw) out you can take a close look at it. Most likely it will be corroded and scratched up. Take a soft wire brush to it and clean off the corrosion. Apply a little assembly lube to the barrel (none threaded section), and ensure it fits easily into the hole of the new lever (different levers can have different sized holes).
Grab the old lever and pull straight out towards the end of the bar. You may need to wiggle it a little to get it out.
Put the new lever where the old one was and insert the pivot bolt again. Tighten the crown nut down once you've got the bolt all the way in.
You're done, check to make sure the lever works and is activating the brakes and the lights.
