I know that the oil is changed. Other than that, what other adjustments are done in the first tunueup? Valve check/adjust?
I'm looking at new '06 599's and am also looking at an '04 599 with 620 miles on it.
(Sorry if this is an FAQ)

A few things that I know of:
Clutch is adjusted (cable stretches)
Chain is adjusted (stretches a lot in first 200 miles)
Brake fluids checked
Tire pressures checked
Not sure if everyone does but my shop also washed the bike for me.

Same for me. Just oil, filter, chain adjustment, lever adjustments and tire pressures. They might have checked idle too, im not sure.
On a side note, after my service i opened it up in 2nd for the first time from around 5k up to 11ish. Man im glad i braced myself. I dont think ive hit 95 that fast in my life :ride

And a VERY expensive oil change it is. They must charge by the mile to get the oil here from Japan.

you are right about needing to check the valve clearances, although i gather from the mechanic at the dealer where i got my bike that it's pretty rare to have to adjust any of them.
