View Full Version : Wanted: stock rear fender-license plate holder-reflectors.
The owner previous to me sawed off the tail portion of the rear fender of my 599, just below the main piece that is the license plate holder. I know many of you prefer this chopped look, but I like the stock assembly. Some of you may have replaced the whole undertail section with one that looks more Moto GP. Do you still have the stock assembly? How about selling it to me for a few bucks?
mechanic77 04-11-2007, 10:47 PM hehehe I still have mine from my 06 after installing an undertail but mine is cut as that was the very first thing I did when I got home from buying her
599001 04-12-2007, 05:13 PM Hey, Crow, I bought one brand new from my local honda dealer for about $ 14. Yes, fourteen dollars, Canadian, at that. (what's that, about $0.36 U.S. ? ). Unless my dealer made a serious mistake, a new one should not cost much more than 10bucks US. Check it out.

Which part did you buy for $14?

Using the above schematic, it looks like I need:
(1) of piece 8.
(2) of 1.
(1) of 10.
(1) of 11.
(2) of 18.
(2) of 12.
(1) of 2.
(1) of 16.
When I last totalled that up, it was going to be quite a bit more than $14.
Please advise.
mechanic77 04-13-2007, 11:45 AM yeh for real 14$ I dont think hes talking about the same thing
599001 04-13-2007, 07:42 PM I bought 1...(1) of piece 8... for $14, and since i was not doing a museum quality restoration (where the color of the nuts and assorted hardware matters), I saw the rest as incidental. I was only trying to help.
mechanic77 04-14-2007, 07:25 AM wow dude I was just curious maybe it is only 14 bucks but just looking at the thing would make you think it might be more than that especially new from the dealer but if thats the price you paid then I guess not :thumbsup

Good to know! I appreciate the help. Thanks.
That fender (piece 8) lists for $23.55 at Bike Bandit. Not bad at all, but it's the reflectors that add up, at $10 each. The total new for all the pieces I listed (which are the pieces I am missing) would be $76.11 plus shipping (or tax, if I bought locally). I was hoping someone would sell me their dusty, sitting on the shelf set for around $20, shipping included.

I'm still in the market! Anyone? I'm sure many of you have gone with the MotoGP/Artfibra undertail. Give me your stock one!
JHenley17 09-22-2007, 10:27 PM I'm planning on ordering an undertail from Artfibras when I get off of my next hitch at work (October 2-3). I can't sell you mine right now, but if you don't have one by then, I'll sell it to you for $20 + shipping.
when i bought my 599, it had the rear fender chopped, and a competition werks fender eliminator put on. In the last couple of weeks, i've changed this to the artfibras undertail.
If you wanted, i can send you all the reflectors i have, and the nuts/brackets to install them, for the price of postage. I have the two round ones that are on the sides, and the rectangular one that is below the plate.
Oops!
Sorry guys, I didn't see your posts until now, about one month late.
Will PM.

Here! Here! I'm interested. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
JHenley17 02-26-2008, 10:45 PM I've already sold it. Try Honda Parts Direct... or maybe your dealer can get it for you while avoiding shipping costs... it required a large box, so shipping was regrettably high.
I'm the guy that bought the stock set-up in this thread. In a week or so, my chopped one (cut just below the license plate) will be available for free (plus shipping) to anyone that needs it. Shipping was $35 for me, and will be the same for you, no doubt.
I finally had time to replace my chopped fender with a stock one. It took some time, but I'm very pleased! I don't know why you guys are going for the undertails. I'm all about function, with a nod for looks now and then. I'm in the process of creating my 2004 Honda 599 Asphalt XD (Extreme Duty version).
JHenley17 05-08-2008, 12:02 AM Complete with long-travel suspension and knobby tires?
That would be crazy...
No, XD in keeping with the original street versatility of the moto. I don't modify my motos except to add accessories that increase utility.
djamalt 05-08-2008, 12:23 PM ...I don't know why you guys are going for the undertails...
It's an addiction man. Those mods... they just be callin' me man, they callin me. (said as he scratches his arm and twitches).
