Anyone know what voltage the speedometer pickup from the transmission puts out? Kinda lazy and don't want to dig elbows deep under the gas tank with a multimeter and am hoping someone else has done it.

(It's for a super-secret project, )

im guessing maybe its a variable ac signal  I assume you are talking about a non cable driven 06/04 type model ? ooooh are you doing a gear indicator or something? did I guess right did I guess right????

I was guessing it was just a variable amount of DC via a Hall effect sensor. It's for my '04. And it's not a gear indicator, although that might not be too tough to do. However, this project will be an immediate usable one, not an indicator for something you can figure out by the tach and speedo. ;)

... Sev, do my work for me.

Since it's finally warmed up here... given the choice between going knee deep into my bike to figure something out for you and going riding I think we all know what I'm going to choose.

Oh gosh how can you tease us like that without telling us what ur doing???

It involves pressurized liquids.

I'll start looking at the wiring diagram tomorrow... the issue as I see it is how one is to test the voltage output while moving. I'm stupid, but not suicidal.

paddock stand :D hmmmmm nos maybe...... know that would be FUN

I'm gonna go less exotic... a device to calibrate the speedo to actual?

I've seena couple of crashed bikes for exactly that reason - in gear on the paddock stand.

And you don't need to know speedo voltage to install nos :P

Did you purchase, and are in the process of installing one of these????

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm just going to build up my own Hall Effect sensor rig and get rear tire rotation with a magnet... easier than trying to find something to regulate the speedo voltage down to the 3V I need. Parts are about $10 shipped so it should be fine. :)

Now to get ready for a ride. :)

Yeah, and while you have it up on that stand and in gear...may as well grab a rag and clean the chain off...
 <---no not really actually  (DON'T DO THIS IT IS JUST A JOKE  )

HAHAHA I remember that......mes thinks some one needed to learn how to set up a paddock stand

....... of course RND if you have a finger that you are just really pissed off at and you want to teach it a lesson...... then by all means go clean your chain
