does anyone know where i could get the left side cover (the one that covers the air intake)?. i lost the damn thing somewhere (don't ask me where). i went to the dealer today and he told me that part is discontinued and that he can't order one for me. WTF is that about??. seems to me like honda should be making all parts for the bike available for at least 10 years after they stop making them, no? :banghead

You could try here. Never used them, but always found the schematics helpful.

I've linked the page for the '04 covers. Appears to have two colour options. I found the cost interesting between the LH and RH parts.

Good luck.

Just buy the carbon ones from Jester on the UK Hornets nest. I think they are $140 for the pair and they are way nicer then the stock ones...

Bikebandit is a bunch of crooks who are slow at hell to ship. Check out Honda Parts Direct (www.hondaparts-direct.com). They are by far the cheapest place you will ever find Honda OEM parts and they are nice guys to work with. I found it there for $44.

I went back to the dealer to pickup my cover and he tells me that the cover is actualy discountinued, but that he had the ruber grommets and the bolt i ordered! I asked him what the hell am i supposed to do with the grommets and the bolt without the cover? So he siad he was gonna get on the phone with honda and give them shit. I'm supposed to hear from him sometime soon. This thing is starting to really piss me off.

Unfortunately we are going to run into this problem more and more as the new Hornet is a much different than the 06 & 04s that most of us have. When I was trying to replace my exhaust pipes, I was told the parts were discontinued and that they might be able to source one in Italy or Japan but with shipping it was more than my new Hindle system! Bastards!!!!

BUT IT'S A HONDA! NOTHING BREAKS ON A HONDA!

They made 'em n 2006, I just can't believe parts are discontinued... :thinking :idonno

Keep your eyes out for wrecked parts bikes or go with Jester's...?

I wonder if they are just waiting and will make a new batch in a while?

It seems really out of character for Honda.

I'm tempted to buy a carbon set from Jester and wrap 'em up. I plan to keep this bike for a LONG time.

I know with cars, its federal law that the parts are available for 10 years after the date of manufacture. Bikes, :idonno I also know that Ford discontinues everything that doesn't also fit some newer model at what seems like 10 years and 3 seconds! :banghead

my dealer called honda canada and got the only left side cover in canada shipped to him. He said it might not be the right color so i'm going to check it out today. if it's not the right color he said he didn't know what to do, but that he'd get something organized with honda.

Hi guys. I just had gotten my bike back from the shop yesterday. It took one month and a half to get fixed because two parts were on back order from the UK/& or Japan. I believe the gearshift arm took two weeks while the front wheel assembly took three weeks. Horror story.
