Anyone else experience this? Flipper 06-01-2007, 07:46 PM This might sound kind of dumb, but I noticed the same thing on my 06 when I first got it. Turned out to be the cool new Honda keychain I had gotten for it. I hope your fix is as easy. Flipper ranger5oh 06-02-2007, 09:35 AM Could be your flyscreen... put a hand on it when you rev.. if it stops, thats what it is. I took mine off, tightened the screws, and no more vibrations. robkb 02-02-2008, 08:39 PM Between 3100 and 3400 rpm, I get a vibration sound from the instrument cluster area on my '06 599. I might take off my windshield, remove the black plastic fly screen, and put the windshield back on. Getting rid of the fly screen will solve the noise problem I'm having. fastLANE 02-03-2008, 06:27 AM my vibrating sound comes from the clutch lever. Ceck that too Sundog 02-03-2008, 07:19 AM My right side bar end mirror glass vibrates inside it's frame at certain rpms. I think the point here is that it could be just about anything. Rev it up until you hear it, and then start feeling around until it stops, and hopefully it isn't something loose inside of the instrument cluster. robkb 02-03-2008, 10:13 AM It's definitely the fly screen. When the noise starts, I'll touch the fly screen with my left hand and apply just a little bit of pressure. This makes the noise stop. So, bye-bye fly screen. I've got a windshield on it, so I doubt It'll look any different except on close inspection by another 599'er. vic 02-03-2008, 12:08 PM I noticed that very same vibration from the flyscreen since I installed the Givi windscreen. I kinda like the screen so, I will sneak a piece of rubber in its joint lines to stop the noise. robkb 02-03-2008, 12:24 PM I noticed that very same vibration from the flyscreen since I installed the Givi windscreen. Ace Hardware has lots of little rubber and Teflon/Delran kinda shims and washers. Worked great for my clutch lever... mine didn't really vibrate but I hated the 1/4" or so of perpendicular play it had... Opticycler 02-03-2008, 12:52 PM Yeah, my clutch lever had a lot of play too, and it vibrated, nothing a littlle shim couldn't fix. I also had the key fob noise thing. The key has been de-fobbed. robkb 05-04-2008, 07:24 PM I will sneak a piece of rubber in its joint lines to stop the noise. I cut off a 2"piece of thick rubber tubing. It's smaller than my finger but bigger round than a pencil. It wedged in there nicely. :headbang I tested it out and went for a ride. Face it, you can't avoid that 3,000 - 3,400 RPM rev area. In my case, it was always accompanied by an embarrassing noise. The tubing SOLVED THE PROBLEM!! Today, for the first time, I got to ride around all my cool spots in first gear. The bike sounds so good without having to listen to that sh!t. What's cool is: I had a problem with my bike (plasticky growl), I joined HONDA599.COM to get answers, and now the problem is solved. vic 05-04-2008, 11:08 PM Glad to be helpful! I want to see how it looks, so get ready for a meetup once I have my bike revised (oil, chain, tires,...). I always ride in MS. :ride Super Sneaky Steve 05-05-2008, 08:13 AM Wow this is an old thread! What ever happened to Filpper anyway? robkb 05-05-2008, 07:22 PM Glad to be helpful! Snapperhead 05-05-2008, 07:32 PM I had that sound as well on my 06. I put pazzo levers on and have not heard the sound since. Problem solved I guess. Oh and yeah the new levers are kewl. | |
