I'm kinda new to this forum so it kind of embarrassing to tell you guys this but...I laid her down yesterday.

I was going about 35-40mph around a hard right hand turn and she just slid out from under me. I'm going to go back to the scene today to look for gravel and such but I think it was just the speed and severity of the turn. I slid about 15 feet into the oncoming lane and the bike about 25 into a ditch filled with mud and water. I swear five people drove right past me waving for help to get my bike out of the ditch. Finally a guy stopped to help pull it out of the sludge.

The good news is I'm ok just a bruised left thumb and ego of course. The bike has a few scratches but not that bad overall. I took her home and cleaned her off and was very happy with the limited damage that I found. I will post some pics later today or tomorrow of the turn and the bike.

One mishap in 3 years on this nimble little beast and hopefully my last.

Sounds like a little front brake action, was it? I'm glad to hear that you are okay though. And from the sounds of it, looks the 599 is pretty water tight! Take care of that thumb and make sure you pay attention for any signs of aches or pains that might need a little more attention than Tylenol.

No I never touched the brakes and was looking all the way through the turn. I have frozen up on turns before and gone to the brakes but I felt like I was doing well.

Wish I had something new to say, but I don't. Just glad you (and the bike) walked away from this relatively unharmed.

Not much gravel found, thinking my rear brake pedal caught first as a result of extreme lean. Live and learn. You can actually see a lighter groove in the pavement before she dumped. :?

I think you're right. You and your bike got off lightly!

I've scraped the toes of my boots in turns (sometimes I forget to tuck my feet back) but I haven't hit any hard parts yet! I think I'll just keep riding the way I have been instead of pushing it even farther, after seeing that! :D

Feeler bolt should be scraping before your brake pedal touches.

All in all I'm glad to hear you came out of it mostly okay. Road rash friggin sucks!

Glad you're OK! Not sure what happened there, but at least you're both around and well enough to tell the tale!
