tomacana 06-17-2007, 08:13 PM Well Nesties, Lance made it to Tennessee and is now home in Orlando. I met him in Asheville. We rode into Tennessee via the Blue Ridge Parkway and Hwy 209 to Hot Springs. We finished the last leg of the ride from Hot Springs to Gatlinburg in the waning moments of daylight.
We made to Deals Gap on Thursday. The photo groupm Kilboy.com caught us in action. You'll have to get his take on the trip. It must qualify for as an Iron Butt ride.
I have slide show link at Photobucket.com Click on the picture.

FireMan30 06-18-2007, 12:08 AM Nice...I'm trying to make it to the NC, blue ridge mountains. Heard they were nice.
tomacana 06-18-2007, 07:04 AM The Blue Ridge is quite nice, especially in the hot summer months. At 5000 ft its about 15 degrees cooler than in the Tennessee Valley. I have't rode hardly any of the Blue north of Asheville. I may ride that way soon. It's makes for a long day. Can't stay overnight, we've got a dog.
antihero 06-18-2007, 08:31 AM Here's another nice pair (http://moto-img.caradisiac.com/IMG/jpg/drakentieten.jpg) on the dragon... (NSFW)
yeroC 06-18-2007, 02:29 PM  Look like a nice 34B
rndthought 06-18-2007, 02:30 PM Tom... Thanks a bunch!
Here are the numbers 1620 miles in 81 hours.
No fun miles (AKA Interstate running @75 to 85 MPH) Orlando to Asheville 580 miles (200+ in the rain) and Talking Rock to Orlando 500 miles...
That leaves around 540 fun miles! Next time I'll see about getting a few more days off to improve that ratio closer to 50/50...
Long haul but worth it, I close my eyes and smile now...
tomacana 06-19-2007, 05:38 PM Lance
Did your video turn out good enough to post?
Did you see the Kilboy photos. ZeePhoto hasn't posted past the 11th.
rndthought 06-19-2007, 08:45 PM I think so... kinda lame section though...will see about downloading some sort of video editing software or finding a Mac geek to do it for me... (for a $70 Pawn Shop purchase, I really like that little Cannon!)
Saw the photos in you album, haven't tried going direct yet...
Sachi 06-19-2007, 08:51 PM I'm a Mac geek.
tomacana 06-20-2007, 08:25 AM I'm a Mac geek.
Sachi, you triggered a Rocko's Modern Life moment for me.
One of my favorite quotes,,,, "I'm a Wild Hog" This quote happened when Rocko and friends ask where abouts of a wild hog. The little pink pig, in a female voice, volunteers---------- "I'm a wild hog"
Still the best cartoon around.
Thanks
Sachi 06-20-2007, 08:31 AM I loved Rocko's Modern Life! :D I like cartoons a lot - I don't have cable now but when I did I was utterly hooked on Nickelodeon cartoons.
rndthought 06-20-2007, 09:08 AM Tom, Sachi...
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
But I much prefer this spin...
When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
 Young is in the mind and heart.
Sachi 06-20-2007, 09:21 AM Puberty notwithstanding, I'm definitely not very grown up. :)

The great man is one who neve loses his child's heart.

How do I manage to miss these thread? :thinking Great pictures! Looks like you guys had a blast! :clap
tomacana 06-21-2007, 03:00 PM Thanks Alex, we had a blast.
I wanted to tell Lance that I was on a section of the country roads today that we were on last Thursday coming back from the Dragon. Lance was folowing and had no idea of where the hell we were, other than East TN. That road thru Dripping Springs, to Shiloh, thru Goose Gap is one of my favorite short cuts.
I was going to weed wack today, but needed a part for the carb. So that resulted in a parts run,.lunch with youngest son, and big loop back home. Parts for weed eater ---- $3.50, lunch -----$15.00, and gas for 150 miles of back roads--------$9.00. Sweet :)
02KBGT 06-21-2007, 03:58 PM Thats friggin awesome ... I have yet to get under 45 MPG on mine... And Tom, Some day your gonna have to show me a few of those roads...I lived In Morristown and White Pine for some time, Know a ton of great roads around there and Newport... rndthought 06-21-2007, 04:19 PM Tom, your life is ABS Hell...don't know how you do it day after day after day after...
