But if everyone filled out the "Where ya from" part in their Profile...you could scan the Memberlist for potential ride partners... 8) Sadly, many don’t :idonno

I agree with RND here. If you don't have your city/state in your profile filled out, please take a moment to do so... who knows, you might end up with great new riding buddies.

On the other note...
There aren't many hornet riders from NY. We have one new guy that's from Brooklyn, but he doesn't get a chance to post much. A couple of guys live in upstate NY.

I consider NY home. I think living in Brooklyn for 10 years qualifies me as a New Yorker. I can't imagine riding a bike there though... the roads are total crap and the traffic is insane!

i'm about 15 miles west of queens. which equates to about forty minutes to an hour and a half depending on traffic. If you want to meet up some time we could work something out. I do however hate riding in the city. I think most of the roads in NYC are total crap or it just might be the ones i've ridden on(most of soho, tribeca, village, time square, upper east side, spanish harlem), or it could be i'm just fussy about pot holes, raised man hole covers, steel plates, cobble stone.

Yeah... exactly. No wonder that while living in NY I considered everyone who rides a motorcycle a suicidal maniac.

Interstingly enough, last time I was in NYC (a year or so ago) I saw more motorcycles than ever.

^^ Absolutely. There are more bikes around now then before and you can thank global warming as summers last longer then ususal.

Both of you guys are right: NYC ROADS SUCK ARSE! However, some parts in Queens and on Long Island offer riders roads that are ideal for riding. Cannot say much about Brooklyn, Bronx, or Staten Island as I rarely visit those boroughs. SI I've only seen once.

yeah i've never found a reason to visit SI. Other than living there, IS there a reason?

Believe it or not, I'd love to ride in Mexico City. Claire and I have a little condo down there, and despite the insane traffic I don't think I'd have any trouble at all. :)

Lived in Brooklyn myself for a minute and I have to agree, roads suck out there. Have you TRI-staters given any thought to riding upstate or in CT? Or even further out of the city like Tarrytown/White Plains? Also, keep in mind, the Pokinos without snow might be an option.

I'm up near Rochester but get down to the City a couple times a year for Mets games! :D

I'm a little ways away, but I do ride in northern CT, and there are some nice roads. I think Hondagirl is closer to the city, Hartford area maybe? One other nice thing about CT, they only have state police, so unless your in a populated area, you almost never see 'em! Beautiful scenic backroads with no cops in sight! :D

I'm in Syracuse, and the roads around here are great. Anytime you're in the area, look me up and we'll go for a ride.

Another Mets fan! I knew there was more to this site than meets the eye. And no that was a Transformers reference.

Oops, didn't mean to change the subject.

There are some (road) gems in Staten Island, I have done a good amount of riding there. Unfortunately, nearly all of the riding I do is late at night, as to avoid the masses of clueless people driving oversized SUV's. (No offense to the SUV owners out there, but in NY, for the most part, they are worthless). The trip to Jersey is worth it if you are looking for a satisfying, less stressful (compared to Manhattan or Brooklyn) day of riding. However, and I've said this before, lower Manhattan has many of the coolest, trendy neighborhoods in NY. The scenery alone will make for a memorable ride. Agreed, the car density and awful streets make a motorcyclist feel overwhelmed; but if you are willing to get a little more aggressive, it can be worthwhile.

And yea DJ, there is good Met support here. :thumbsup

I usually cruise around the south shore...any road off of Arthur kill Rd. really...

That ride to Shea must have been rough...although I bet you were the first one out once the game was over. I was stuck in the parking lot for a good hour and a half after a Met/Nat's game earlier this year.

Upstate here, right in between the Catskill and Berkshire mountains. Prime riding country. Just hoping winter doesn't come too soon.
