View Full Version : Black or Yellow, which is better for a Hornet? DarkTint 08-15-2007, 09:46 PM Black is, of course, but it's time to make this debate official. jmd 08-15-2007, 10:12 PM Didn't we do this already...? It don't matter...i'll vote the same way every time. Black...and ain't goin' back. ;) PDXrider 08-15-2007, 10:26 PM Everyone has black bikes.. be original. Show you aren't afraid of attention. Don't hide your wonderful bike under boring black! Alex 08-16-2007, 09:30 AM It's a hornet, it's meant to be yellow! This thread is silly, we all know that there are more people with black bikes on this forum because it's the only color the '06 model comes in. antihero 08-16-2007, 10:39 AM Anybody who knows physics knows that colors just slow you down. Since black is the absence of all color, through the transitive property I can say with conviction that black is the fastest color (or lack there of). 599Toronto 08-16-2007, 11:02 AM Alex -- please work your Lord Honda599.com magic to ensure that Team Yellow comes out on top!! :D Alex 08-16-2007, 02:27 PM Alex -- please work your Lord Honda599.com magic to ensure that Team Yellow comes out on top!! :D  Unfortunately, this one's out of my hands. But don't worry, we won by default, because, secretly, everyone with a black hornet wishes for a yellow one. Too bad they'll never admit it. Right? rndthought 08-16-2007, 02:59 PM ...physics...absence...transitive property... MF'en Geeks 'round here... vthoky 08-16-2007, 08:22 PM Didn't we do this already...? It don't matter...i'll vote the same way every time. Black...and ain't goin' back. ;) "Once you go black..." I've got one of the ladies at work convinced that I'm colorblind and have to have things black to keep from mixing colors badly! Heck, I make my life easy. My truck is black (as was my previous one), Mrs vthoky's car is black, our cat is black, my dog Molly is black, my dog Hobie (RIP) was black, my favorite Timberlands are black (both pairs), my backpack and my two favorite jackets are black. Ink in my pen? Black, always. And for what it's worth, I like dark chocolate better than the other kinds too. Skier 08-16-2007, 09:43 PM Everyone has black bikes.. be original. Show you aren't afraid of attention. Don't hide your wonderful bike under boring black! There's being original and there's being F'in gaudy. ;) Reidar 08-17-2007, 06:31 AM antihero: you started your statement right, but black is not the absence of colours, it is all the colours mixed up. That’s why it does not reflect any colour - in other words: black. And where is the selection for Pearl Amber Yellow? ;) OK, I voted for yellow – the closest selection :D Darth Vrees 08-17-2007, 10:15 PM The darkside IS more powerful... :) lol ...therefore black is faster. ;) Reidar 08-19-2007, 09:08 AM I totally agree, the darkside is more powerful. That's why the engine is black on the 599 :) rndthought 08-19-2007, 09:13 AM :nerd Dave 08-19-2007, 11:00 AM The first time I showed my 599 to my mom, she said "I'm glad it's black." Do we need to discuss this any further? vthoky 08-19-2007, 06:43 PM If Dave's mama approves, black must be good. "Thanks, Mom!" :D rndthought 08-20-2007, 08:52 AM I hope not :ride Sundog 08-20-2007, 06:45 PM My mom was a little freaked out that my bike is exactly the same color as the road. I think it's pretty clear that black has won this little popularity contest. The next question is... matte or shiny black? I had my 04 asphalt lined up next to femaletrouble3's 06 shiny black a few days ago, and the general impression I got from the crowd was that guys preferred the matte, and girls liked the shiny. Which, I hate to say it, is probably a better endorsement for the gloss black. ukkev 08-20-2007, 09:30 PM Uh oh, I sniff infighting in the black coloured bike camp  Sachi 08-20-2007, 09:40 PM Humbug. Wimmen prefer yellow. :P JHenley17 08-20-2007, 10:03 PM A true testament to its inferiority... As for shiny vs. matte, I have to admit, I want to paint mine matte black. In fact, once I purchase a car, I'm going to see what a body shop would charge me to paint my tank, tail, and token fairing. I'd like to also get the engine, tranny, etc. done, but I think powdercoating the wheels is next on the list. I've found a company in Texas that I think will do well, no idea what it's going to cost, though. Sachi 08-20-2007, 10:45 PM A true testament to its inferiority... OoooooOOOOOHHHHhhh. Sumbuddy is in trouble! Transient 08-20-2007, 10:59 PM Matte black. The first 599 that I saw was the matte black '04 and, had it not been sold the following week, I would've bought that one instead of my yeller. Granted, I got a much better deal on the yellow. But I think I may end up painting it eventually. djamalt 09-10-2007, 05:11 PM Everything about this post would make for a great episode on Mythbusters. MotoGPFan26 09-10-2007, 05:45 PM Mine is yellow and I love it. About to get a new paint job though... jfeagin 09-10-2007, 09:16 PM First one I saw was a yellow. But then the dealer had a brand new '06. "Any color you like..." Anyway, why just one color? I'm adding blue bits in strategic locations. It'll match my lovely helmet. :) FireMan30 09-11-2007, 11:33 AM Matte Black...although I am thinking of adding some yellow to go with the LeoVince. Slide 09-11-2007, 12:08 PM Matte Black (asphalt). Thinking about subtle red accents here & there... Pazzo levers for a start! | |
