In memory of everyone that died:

A plane! The mouth of thousand eyes screamed
So horrid, so vivid, surreal it seemed
So many lives shattered in seconds of time
So many hearts ripped by this terrible crime

So many were drowned in ocean of fire
By treacherous hands of the funeral pyre
And those on the edge fighting for breath
What were their thoughts as they plunged into death

What of those people who ran out too late
And watched as the ceiling collapsed on their head
And those badly wounded of whom we don't know
In rooms without exits only wishing to go

We search through the ruins but find just blood
And pieces of us that once were alive
We find the pieces of our broken trust
We're tired, we're sick, but we do what we must

We stand there speechless and we burn with hate
We burn with the pain that just wouldn't wait
We pray and we cry as our hearts fill with hate
Just enough to avenge this infamous date.

Chill down my spine. I was there when the towers fell. Had ash on my jacket that day. I wish I could think of more to say, but words are failing me right now. Peace, and one love.

I shed a few more tears this 9/11, just as I have the past years since it took place. Just imagining what my fellow brothers in blue must have been dealing with that day. The part that chokes me up is the senselessness of it all, the lives lost, and pain caused upon so many.

May we never forget!
