Went for a short ride at lunch today. Whoever said that California has no seasons? When I got to Highway 9 (in Saratoga, CA) leafs were falling from the trees like snow... and then, going further into the hills, the tempreture dropped good 20 degrees. I was seriously freezing my ass off for most of this ride.

Still, nothing like being able to jump on your bike and in 15 min be on a nice road. I love Cali.

Snapped it with my phone.

Post a pic or two of your "Autumn ride."

Nowhere picturesque around here, yet, but today's the first time I was able to ride and not sweat, even in traffic with the radiator fans blowing on my legs and chest. I even felt a slight chill in the shaded backroads. 'Twas very nice. I'm going to love the fall. Just wish I had some twisties in decent shape...

If only i were back in good 'ol NC mountains...

Well, how cold was it? This morning's commute was 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Here's some fall pictures from last year:

If you can reverse the picture (to keep icons from masking the bike :) ), that would make a nice desktop background on your pc...

Alex,

I just noticed in your pic that youpulled the brushed cover off your exhaust like I did... The only difference is I left the end cap on. I've been trying to decide if I liked it enough that way to go ahead and bite the bullet and shave off the mounting points and repaint.

I've gotten comments that it looks 'sleeker' but they didn't know what changed... I guess others like it, too.

Jason, what you see here is [what used to be the] brushed cover painted black. See this thread for details: http://www.honda599.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1704

Whoever said that California has no seasons?

This is the land of micro-climates. You got the good weather down there in Silicon Valley, Alex.

Summer in San Francisco: Tourists in shorts freezing their asses off. Ride 20 miles in any direction (except West obviously) and the temp goes from 60 to 90.

Man, I need to get used to the cold quick... I was riding with my mesh jacket last night wishing I had a leather, and it was only about 72 degrees out.

Ahhh, good ol' "Pee Point". We locals (the folks who use HY 9 for
commuting) call it that after the restroom was installed several years
ago. Yeah, we pretty much went from Summer to Fall overnight
in the Bay Area.

You noticed that too! I thought I was imagining stuff.

I love the Bay Area. my brother lives in Hayward, CA. I love to fly out their and visit him and his family whenever I can. I'm planning to drive out there in June 2008. I'm a new school teacher and will finally have plenty of free time to make the drive. I wonder if I'll take my bike or my truck???? Probably my truck. The farthest I've traveled on my 599 is 500 miles or so one-way.

i just got back from LA and san diego earlier this afternoon... was 50 degrees and drizzling in SD when i woke up... started driving (the car) back to tucson, and it's 95 here :(

the weather in CA (SoCal) is nice... however the traffic in LA was horrendous!!!! and i've driven in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and Phoenix... nothing compairs to LA... i was ready to shoot myself, haha.

LA may indeed be the worst, but in my experience it could also be New York or Boston (in LA there is no snow and the roads are not constantly in need of repair). And let's not forget the Bay Area (San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose). You could argue it's as bad as anything else.

People in Memphis will just flat out drive right over you. You have to drive 70 in the city limits just not to get ran over. I'm gonna ride up there next weekend and sport my new Honda 599.com RIDE NAKED shirt at the Mid-South fair. Let's hope it gets me a hottie! Right now, I'm thinking about going for a ride through town and around Grenada Lake. Maybe zoom up and down I-55 for a couple of miles a few times just to represent and be seen. If the wind's not too bad, maybe I'll be able to post a new Rob's World Record for high speed on the 599. So far, it's 108 mph. Maybe not. Maybe I'll just cruise along slowly looking cool. I just read something about somebody having a speedwobble at the bottom of a hill and having to say RIP to their 599. I'm gonna wait until "The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team 2" is over before I do anything today anyway. I hope they show another episode, but I kinda don't. I'm ready to go ride!

It ****rained**** in San Diego!!!!! Wow, talk about an apocalyptic event! :D

It's still pretty warm out but it's finally down to the point where we can live without an air conditioner.

Photoshop...it's what makes pictures into photos...

EDIT> it helps to have a good starting point via an eye for composition and lighting too...of course.

So I guess pics of past falls are ok? A couple of years ago a buddy of mine got a job selling digital cameras, so he took one out on a ride to get some sample pics for customers. I asked him numerous times to send the 599 ones to me, but no luck. I stole these off of his Myspace page.
