and i mean like physically hit by the driver of the vehicle, not the car itself. happened to me today as i rolled up to a traffic light and split lanes for a few cars. the driver on the right side threw a closed fist at me but i luckily dodged it. wth are people thinking?

What's wrong with people?! Try getting the license plate next time and report the asshat to the police.

Outrageous!! That's the type shit that makes me leery of lane splitting.
I'm sure this incident is the exception, but splitting seems to make
the rider a little more vulnerable to assholes and/or pranksters.
Oh well, glad they didn't connect biking4j...

Funny...(like interesting, not HaHa). WhyTF would someone want to pick a fight with a person wearing a helmet and padding? Even if you were out matched 2x you'd still have an advantage.

Sorry to hear about that but there is no shortage of assholes, idiots and straight up stupid people. One day he'll do that to the wrong guy...only a matter of time.

Would be good if you could tuck your head down fast so his fist met your helmet...

What a jerk! Glad to hear you missed the hit. Never heard of anything like that happening.

what was funny too was there was an gixxer rider behind me and i believe he revved really loud right as he passed the car and they probably got an earful of his loud pipe :)

Holy crap! That is funny since you dodged it, but I would have been pissed reguardless. :yell It just goes to show that you can't underestimate people...cuz they are crazy.
I got pulled over by a statey in Boston massachusetts for lane splitting. He let me go with a verbal warning.

Lane splitting is a way of life here in California. I do it on daily basis. I'm always a little paranoid, but :: knocks on wood :: everything's been okay so far. Most people are used to it, I think.

For that asshat though, like RND said, it's just a matter of time.

I sometimes wish I had a brick with me when riding just for people like that.

Damn. That really sucks. I hope that never happens to me. A lot of people don't like motorbikes huh? it's too bad.

Riding on the road is dangerous enough, even if it was legal I wouln't even think about lane splitting.

Idiots can barely not hit motorcycles as it is, no need in helping them.

That's how I felt too when I first moved to Cali. I was like, "this is nuts, I'm not gonna do that on my bike." ...Well, now I do it regularly. When you're in some of the worst freeway traffic in the world, it gets very tempting to shoot right between those cagers. But it can actually be done with a relative degree of safety, i.e. doing it when traffic is slow or stopped.
