View Full Version : Norton 360, anyone?

Okay, so my Norton Internet Security subscription expired and I thought I'd go upgrade to Norton 360. The main benefit for me was that it's licensed for three machines at a time -- what a convenience, as I have to maintain three machines.

I suppose it works okay, and it appears to do its normal thing pretty seamlessly. But there's a feature I miss. With NIS I could right-click a file name, and the flyout menu would offer "Scan with Norton Antivirus" as one of the options. Not so anymore, and I haven't yet beaten 360 into telling me how to scan a single file or folder.

Who's got the know-how on this one?

(And please let's not turn this into a Norton vs McAfee vs JoeSchmo-ware thread. :D )

Thanks in advance....

When you said Norton 360, I thought you were talking about a cool bike I didn't know about  Sorry, I know even less about computers.

Ehh, my bad. Didn't even think about the Norton cycle connection when I posted that.

... And I still can't make 360 scan a single file or folder....

That's funny! I thought you meant the bike too. We have 360 here at
work too. I know what you mean. It's definitely a lil different. If i'm
understanding you correctly, i just right click the Norton icon at the
bottom of the screen and open the tasks window and click on scan file.
I'm not exactly a computer savant so i'm not sure if this is what you mean??

Norton security is widely considered a resource hog and a dog of a program. No one -- and I mean NO ONE -- that I know with a PC (including myself) uses it. People are using Avast from AMG (if I recall the abbreviation.) (That's what I have on my Vaio, too, after I killed off the original install of Norton.)

This lady knows what shes talkin about. And i think AVG is the abbreviation you were looking for. Thats what we put on all our new machines when we build them at my store. A nice little program, its free and doesnt bog down the system like some others.

As for 360, i have no idea, sorry. Probably not the answer you wanted.
