Are there rubber motor mounts you can buy for these bikes? thanks ukkev 10-22-2007, 02:27 PM where is the vibration bothering you? hands, feet, or ar$e? :) robotribe 10-22-2007, 03:16 PM How new is the bike? Mine seemed to be more buzzy in the first 1k miles. pricelister 10-22-2007, 03:42 PM Replaced the stock handlebars (no internal weights), installed a flyscreen that buzzes a little, installed Givi crashbars, CompWerkes billet footpegs. Now it vibrates noticeably. JHenley17 10-22-2007, 03:52 PM I don't find the vibration to be very bad, but I've still got the rubber pegs and stock weighted bars... I would get some weight in the bars if I didn't have any... Alex 10-22-2007, 04:55 PM 599's are known to be a little buzzy, it's the nature of the beast. sschulak 10-22-2007, 06:34 PM its my hands feet and a$$, my first problem is this was my first bike so i didnt really know that all this could literaly stop me from riding the bike for more than an hour, now i want to drive in some back country roads and i just cant make it past an hour on this bike and with that i still cant walk for a day hehehe,, its most vibrant at 5500RPM when im going 65 on freeway. troyohchatter 10-22-2007, 07:54 PM I would suggest riding a classic American V-twin for 20 minutes. After that, you won't notice any noise or vibration on the 599. JHenley17 10-22-2007, 08:46 PM Yeah... I rode a single in the MSF course, that thing was the definition of vibration. I don't expect big-bore V-twins are much better. rndthought 10-23-2007, 08:44 AM sschulak - How many (and what other) bikes have you ever owned? Alex 10-23-2007, 11:23 AM its most vibrant at 5500RPM when im going 65 on freeway. Bingo, that IS when the bike has most vibrations. Speed up a little bit and you'll see the vibration subside. sschulak 10-23-2007, 12:30 PM thats my first bike, i was thinking about putting rubber pads in between the motor mounts, cut the plastic shims back a bit to fit high durometer rubber in between to see if it would absorb some of the vibration. rndthought 10-23-2007, 02:02 PM Just wondering because before this bike I had a 650cc single, and before that a few two stroke dirt bikes...and find the 599 silky smooth by comparison (like at first, hardly knew it was running). The first time I talked about the 599 I described it like a sewing machine. (it kinda had the sound coming from the motor area too so...) Relative wise, it is a comparatively vibe free bike so don’t know how much effort you want to throw at the issue. Obviously the only validation the issue needs is that it concerns you, but just saying some issues smooth over with perspective and comparative references... HIGH SIDE 11-06-2007, 07:44 PM I have noticed this motor vibration also. It occurs at 6100-6500 rpms on my 06 599. Hopefully the bike will wear in and the vibration will lessen. ukkev 11-06-2007, 08:05 PM I think you'll ignore the vibration after a while as it becomes less and less obvious to you. I the mean time, winter gloves might help  Sachi 11-06-2007, 09:11 PM ukkev has the answer. Time and accustomizing yourself to the bike. If you want vibes, try a 650-750 British vertical twin. I had two 650s-- a Norton and a Triumph Bonneville. Now THOSE bikes vibrated. But it was a good vibe for me, and I loved riding them as long as I stayed around 65 max. Do NOT replace the engine mounts with rubber. The engine is an integral part of the frame on most modern bikes and the mounts are designed for the best tradeoff of stiffness and vibration. In short, get used to it. A 599 is far less buzzy than most bikes, but it does have some vibes. JBarx 11-06-2007, 09:38 PM I thought it was kinda buzzy compared to my CB750. I just figured that was normal, like AleX said. I've only had it two weeks and I hardly notice it anymore, but +\- 5500rpm seems to be the sweet spot where it buzzes through the chassis. dabinche 11-07-2007, 12:35 AM relax your grip and shoulders and it'll be better HIGH SIDE 11-07-2007, 04:28 PM I'm trying to reach down with my left hand and hold onto different parts at 6100-6500 rpms and in 1st gear. Duua I should do it when its on the stand. Its not that the vibration is uncomfortable I just know its there now. | |
