Sooooooooo David, what do you think about 'em for $400?
I've asked before...but do you all think the more protection you have the safer you are? I mean sometimes I look at the situation and, for me, I think when I'm fully suited - I ride a bit more aggressively (reduced safety margins), so it makes me wonder, does that negate any bump in actual safety. Seriously, imagine riding in a pair of Chucks, board shorts and a t-shirt...now add boots...then a jacket...then pants...then helmet...then full race leathers...then an "impact jacket"...do you see your riding getting progressively more aggressive?

I know what you're saying. I think it's mostly that I've never gone down. You see the motogp guys highside and lowside all the time in full leathers and brush themselves off - which is definitely giving me a false since of saftey.
I think once I go down - and God willing I survive the experience - the saftey margin I accept will be a little more rigid. But yeah, more aggressive when fully suited. Then again, the only thing I've ever be "optional" on are wearing sneakers instead of riding boots. but I've got shoes stashed at work now so I'm wearing the boots more often.
Have you ever gone down, rnd?

Well it also helps that those MotoGP guys are A) 20yo B) In the best shape ever C) Have a team of doctors and therapists D) don't whine about all the aches and pains they now have E) crash on a manicured course designed for safety and minimal injury.
Have you ever gone down, rnd?
Whowa...not that kind of forum dude..!
I have laid bikes down a few times but only once on the street...15-20 MPH turning ito a Target parking lot + passenger. Your ankle is F-ed if you are wearing just sneaks. Knee will be skinned if you are wearing just Levis. Will have asphalt embedded in your hand if you don't have gloves and are stupid enough to take your hands off the bars when you fall. My jacket never touched the ground and neither did my helmet. Maybe $300 in damage to the bike...oh and one snapped wrist that now has pins...and worst part is it wasn't my wrist. :(
