View Full Version : Can you still get new 06s?
Nytelyte 10-25-2007, 01:53 PM Are there any factory new 06 bikes out there? Heck, or 05s or 04s? I'm not too picky, but would like a new one if possible.
I talked to my local dealership, they are pretty cool, but they could not find any. *and they did not treat it like a "can't find that, how about this." I think the guy really looked*
I see people coming out still with "I got a new crated 06 599!" Where are you digging these up? Anyone have any leads? I'm pretty ready at this time to have one now..
VooDooYouDo 10-25-2007, 02:24 PM I was lucky enough to find one on a showroom floor.
Who mentioned the auction Honda was having via dealers?
2wheelwobbler 10-25-2007, 02:38 PM I bought my 06 in February this year. There is still one brand new 599 in their showroom. In Florence, SC.
Nytelyte 10-25-2007, 02:41 PM I'm cool with traveling! No problems there, I'm feeling the need for a steed.
If anyone has any leads, I can make phone calls.
Thanks!
Call a few dealerships around where you live? Go to cycletrader.com or find them via Honda website. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding one. Good luck!
... and :welcome to the forum.
JohnG 10-25-2007, 04:09 PM coyote honda in phoenix has 2 on the floor...
dexx85 10-25-2007, 04:46 PM Velocity Cycles in Mechanicsburg, Pa has an '06 and an '04 but they over price pretty bad.
JHenley17 10-25-2007, 05:01 PM If you're interested in a 919, Loewer Powersports in Alexandria, LA has a dark red one. Friendly Yamaha in Baton Rouge had one, too, but I think it's gone, now, and I took the 599 off of their hands.
vthoky 10-25-2007, 05:48 PM I did a quick check on Charlotte (NC) Honda and Southern Honda (Chattanooga TN) last night. There are new 599s and 919s to be had, plus a Candy Red VFR800 for which I've got the lust.
02KBGT 10-25-2007, 06:11 PM I bought my 599 at Souther Honda a few months ago...They still had two more with less than 2 miles on them at the time..
Just got my '06 today at Desoto Honda in MS. Brand new and last one remaining.
JBarx 10-27-2007, 09:01 PM Honda of Ottawa in Ohio has a brand-new '06 for $5799. I called on it last week before buying the used '04.

Hey, Vic!
I've sat on your bike!

I was lucky you didn't get it before me, I might say
robkb 10-28-2007, 07:48 PM They got that one just very recently, and I had bought mine back in February. When I saw it (and the 919 sitting beside it), I couldn't help myself. I had to sit on both just to make sure the 599 was the better one for me. It is! It sure looks better (the whole front end thing). I like the looks of the 599 engine better, too. I didn't kiss her or nothing, though.
MikeLadner 12-06-2007, 05:55 PM I bought my 06 last month. They had one on the floor and two still in the crates...
JohnG 12-06-2007, 06:58 PM Coyote Honda Goodyear Az, outside of Phoenix, 2 on floor
geobeck 12-06-2007, 08:04 PM A dealer close to me still has two '06s in crates, plus two on the floor. The assistant sales manager told me they always order extra 599s because they only release them in North America every two years. I guess he'll be disappointed that the Hornet is skipping the side of the ocean for '08... unless, of course, they're hitting Canada but not the USA.
Regardless, I think I'll buy mine this weekend and take advantage of their free winter storage until I take my riding course. :)
Next week I'll tell you where my dealership is, just in case anyone here is looking in the Pacific northwest. :P
mitsurugi 12-06-2007, 10:43 PM I bought mine through a Honda auction.
All the Honda dealers can bid every so often on old stock that didn't sell and is still in the crates from the factory.
I had a buddy who works at a dealer so he told me about it but I'm sure other places might do that as well.
JHenley17 12-07-2007, 05:46 PM One on the floor at G N Gonzales in Baton Rouge... don't know waht they're wanting for it, though. Not the greatest people I've ever talked to...
TooManyIDs 12-16-2007, 01:06 PM Bought mine about a month ago. There are a few in Dallas, but bought mine in Oregon (better deal) and had it shipped.
geobeck 12-16-2007, 03:14 PM Just bought my bike yesterday at Carter Motorsports in Coquitlam, BC. I still don't have it at home, of course, because I have to wait until my riding course in February, but I'm all signed up for that.
I brought my gear home, and was doing some fashion modeling for my wife last night. 8) Still waiting for the boots and helmet, though (back order).
Can't wait to get on the road!
Just bought my bike yesterday...
Congrats! :thumbsup

geobeck 12-17-2007, 04:00 PM Steve always says "Nothing sexier than a man in leather."
Keep in mind, I live in Vancouver, BC. More like "Nothing sexier than a man in a heavy-duty wet-weather jacket and ballistic pants."
I was taking a closer look at my M2R jacket--it appears to have a slot for a small back protector. Maybe I should look into one of those instead of getting the full-sized strap-on model. (Ok, ok, insert "strap-on" joke here. :P )
On that topic... what's the general opinion around here about back protectors? Worthwhile insurance for crazy trraffic, or an extra burden?
JHenley17 12-17-2007, 04:07 PM I don't use one, but they're required for track days. If you don't mind the burden of putting one on, I'd say it's probably not a bad idea in the least... the street is more dangerous than the track. I'm probably just going to get one to insert into my jacket, though.
Sachi 12-17-2007, 05:10 PM Yes, back protectors are good to have. That said, I don't ride with one mostly because I haven't found one I like yet.
lowrdr18 12-17-2007, 09:41 PM M R motorcycles in asheville nc has 1 brand new 06 left on the showroom floor for 5999
Happy Hornet 12-17-2007, 10:01 PM I bought mine in November off the show room floor 2 miles on it. Now I have 2 how much do I love this bike.
They had them for less than 24 hours-they hid one knowing I am a sucker for a Hornet.
It was oh so hard not to buy the 919 but love to insure the slightly under 600 cc bike.

Try the Forcefield it is pliable, breathable, and effective. I "do" motorcycle accidents for a living and have been impressed with this back protector.
yeroC 12-18-2007, 05:36 AM Ha ha. geobeck said "insert strap on...here!" :hump
Jerrya 01-12-2008, 10:04 PM Got a '06 from OTD Cycle in Oakland, California for $5,500 OTD on December 29. They had one left. They told me that they got them below cost from Honda. I drove up from Orange County to get it.
Will be doing the 600 mile oil change next week.
Mitch 01-12-2008, 10:16 PM How weird...
I purchased my '06 599 from Berkeley Honda for $7200 back in October. They however, had to get it shipped from Southern California because they had none in their shop. You drove up here to get yours, and I had to get mine shipped from SoCal.
tamu8993 01-13-2008, 06:36 AM Honda of Houston has an '06 on the floor. I have no idea how much they want for it though.

Cool, great price! I picked up mine at OTD Cycles in L.A. on the 15th of Dec. (OTD @ $5999 (kind of appropriate, right :) )), and was told they had one more. They had one sold on the floor and had to "bring mine in" from somewhere else.
This is my second bike from them, and their prices are hard to beat. It's kind of refreshing to deal with these guys after seeing the "addons" that some other L.A. dealers are tacking on. FWIW, a local "mega" dealer had one on the floor a last week with an sticker price of $8k+, full MSRP + freight, setup, etc.
