Hi, I am a relatively new rider - started out this spring. Have had a real learning experience this summer including my new 599 (just coming home with it from the dealership) and I going skidding and tumbling down the road - courtesy of a deer. Anyway, my question is about your visor fogging up in cold weather. I hope to get a few more weeks of riding in before storing her for the winter (I live in SE Minnesota). It has been pretty cool going to work in the morning -around 30 degrees. I can leave my visor up a crack and do pretty good but my face sure gets cold. What works for you?

Someone here I'm sure will have some really good advice for you...The only thing that comes to mind right of is maybe an Antifog cleaner? I think Rain-X makes one and I'm sure many others..So far I've not had any trouble..It depends on what helmet your using IMO..

You probably want to first make sure that you have an anti-fog visor. If that's not working, there are a few solutions:

1. Anti-Fog treatment. There are several substances that you wipe on your visor to provide some level of protection. "Cat Crap" comes to mind as a popular recommendation from the past, though I can't vouch for it.

2. Anti-Fog insert. If you search, you can find universal inserts that you permanently affix to the inside of your visor to make it anti-fog. Though less aesthetically pleasing than an actual anti-fog visor, it may provide better performance at a lower cost than actually buying a new visor.

It's been a long time since I've been in the water, but if you check at some SCUBA dive shops (I lived in Minneapolis for a year and a half, they do exist) you'll find a few products that will do the trick.

I have a HJC CL-SP series helmet. The visor is listed as anti-fog. Sounds like I must be the one doing something wrong if no one else really has any problems with it. Since my season is almost done, I will just do some more research over the winter, including checking out a scuba shop as suggested.
Thank you for your input.

My local shop sold me a "breath guard" meant for a dirt bike helmet.

Think of the top 2/3 of a paper dust mask for sanding and such (tight over the nose, open at the bottom. made out of semi-rigid foam.

You put some Velcro on the inside of the inside of the helmets chin bar between the cheek pads and then can install and remove the guard as the weather dictates.

Think it was like $12.

A baclava might help keep your face warm. I'm ordering one this week, so I can't really tell you how they work, yet. It's a bit warmer now than it was last week, though, so I don't think I'll be needed it for a while.

Usually only have issues when stopped...so just pop it up a bit when at a light. Got some “anti-fog” paste at the flea market that seems to work great. Don’t think it is any thing special. Lasts for about 2-3 rides then you gotta reapply.

For the visors listed as anti-fog, I think you need to be real careful with them. Only clean with very mild soap and water or you’ll wash off the anti fog coating.
