Hi all, as you can see I am a newbie here but I do recognise a few of you from the nest.

I know this is a North American site but hey I should be coming over in January and will need a few friends when I arrive, so hi all and look forward to joining in with you all.

I assume you'll be coming to Toronto by your title?

There are a few of us in Toronto and the surrounding area... no reason why we can't organize a pub night!

Who's in???

Sounds good people, what is the price of a 600 or 900 hornet anyway.

Although January may be the wrong time of the year to be riding.

As for the beer, well I have never been one to say no.

Are you over on vacation, or moving permanently?
I guess a 599/600 can range from around C$5000 to C$6900... but those are just ball park figures...

Two and a half grand lowest, in English :)

What did/do you ride in the UK ?

Sorry chaps, I should have explained.

We have our permanent residency visas, and are in the process of selling our house. So yes we are coming over to stay.

rayh: Throw us some dates!

599001: I always like to go to the big one... the manufacturers show at the Automotive Building (the one on Front Street - can't remember the name of the place). The other shows at the International Centre... I spend too much money... but still go! :D

Our house has just gone under offer so all going well we should be flying over sometime in January, just in time for the snow. we will be staying to start with anyway in Erin, as we have family there.

A couple of questions if anyone can help.

1/ will we need to convert our drivoong licences or re-take a test, including my motorcycle one.

2/ what is the job situation like, I am in construction sales so any help would be good.

When you first arive you will be able for a period of time (3 mths I believe), to drive a car with your UK license alone.
Then when you're ready, it is my belief that your car driving license will allow you to obtain a Canadian version without retest (unlike when I came over in 2000). I'd hope the same would count for the motorcycle, but I can't say for sure as I didn't have a bike license in the UK.

As for work, I'd say you might be in luck, as Toronto is under construction like crazy at the moment, with new Condominium buildings going up all over the place... seriously!

If you have any more questions you can pm me on here...

Slide: I think the show you're referring to is the one at the Metro Toronto Convention center. The one at Exhibition Place seems to be more of a Harley/cruiser/custom thing, though I have seen a few things of interest there. The show at the International center is hard to walk away from without empty pockets, or a heavy credit card.

Nice to have you with us. There are at least a few riders on this site in the GTA. Check out the photos section, and the group rides section under Southern Ontario Swarm for some info on our rides together.
