Read and article about the price of copper wire going up (we use lots of it) and it got me thinking...

1 old school copper penny = 3 grams...

1 pound = 453.6 grams

453.6grams / 3grams = 151 pennies per pound

Copper is over $3.40/pound

A penny is "worth" 3.4/151 = $0.023 :shock:

You say "old school" cause new pennies are mostly zinc right?

Once upon a time there was a law that money had to be "worth" it's value. So a dime had to be made of aprox 10 cents worth of metal. So dimes were made of silver while the other shiny coins were made of zinc or iron. Hmmmm

Now it's all "In God we trust." AND you can't take it with you... Hahahahaha

And now it's all based on the Market system,

So it's kind of relevant to us because we'd have more honda hornets if the dollar wasn't weak compared to the euro.

I wish i had studied more about finance and GDP and inflation and the
role of the Federal reserve. I don't think people know the extent and ramifications
of the national debt, like who we're indebtted to and for how much, what
are the terms, interest, who really owns the wealth much less the money.
The money is just an instrument and a medium for a market system.
There are reasons why the govt doesn't/can't just print enough cash for
every American to be Warren Buffett-like.
Interesting are the reports and investigation of the missing billions of
freshly printed cash that were flown in full cargo planes to Iraq to jump
start and bolster the Iraq economy in the first year of invasion. Most of
the cash is unaccounted for to this day. hhmmmmm....
Gov't, financial markets, geo-politics=a tangled web of cloak and dagger
clusterfuck!!!

Well, scary unless you're one of the few remaining US based manufacturers/exporters...then life is not so bad...infact life is quite good.
