Hi there,

I´m planning to ride part of the Natchez trace on the next three-day weekend, from Jackson to Nashville.

Just started to look for hotels and, since I know only a bit of trace's history, I would like to stop often to learn about it. Any advice from anyone who rode it would be appreciated. Tomorrow's gonna be resources hunting day.

And, of course, all 599ers nearby are invited to join me even just for a while. More than a 599 on the road... it would be like Europe!!, hehe

You might want to check out the advrider.com regional forums if you haven't yet. There seem to be quite a few people over there who have ridden that area.

Heres a google search of some relevant posts over there:

Looks pretty cool, have fun!

Ain't nothing on the Trace, man. You better fill up the tank good and eat something before you head out. I rode it for several hundred miles last May from Houston, MS to Nashville.
Besides the wonderful, curvy road when you start getting closer to Nashville, the main thing I remember is the Loveless Cafe. It's right off of the Trace when you get to Nashville. They have small parking spaces just for motorcycles! The food was good, too.

PLUS... You're gonna be frozen on the side of the Trace THIS weekend!

Thanks for your comments!
Of course, with 0ºC outside, the trace will have to wait because it's a stay-in/movie-rent weekend.

You'll enjoy the Trace much more in the Spring when everything's blooming or even in the Fall.

I've ridden the trace all but for about 50 miles in the middle. If you want a relaxing ride it's cool. Can be boring at times. If you take it all the way, when you cross into tennessee it becomes an absolute blast to ride. Just don't get caught speeding. Federal Park means federal fines!

After having ridden the Orzacks and The Pig Trail, the Trace is totally dropped. The AR roads are empty, not even cops. In fact, the roads are so twisty that going over the speed limit is difficult.

The Pig Trail? I want to check that one out.

Do it, you'll have a really good time. I did the section of Hwy 23 between Brashears and Orzack. It has a sudden elevation change (down slope towards I40) with hairpins and the road is mint. The only drawback is that there are too many cruisers and that can slow you down if you want to go fast.

I got there by chance, looking for a gas station and found one that wasn't on my GPS, the Turner Bend.
