Anybody else here from New Mexico? I've seen one other 599 in albuquerque, but wondering if there are others. It would be fun to go for a ride, but also I want advice about mechanics.

Does your bike have gold front forks?

No, Robkb, my bike does not have gold forks. I copied that picture from somewhere. I kinda like them, though. Did they ever come stock?

I guess this means there's nobody here from New Mexico; just people who wish they were.

They only come in gold in Europe.

Why would the gold forks only be on the European bikes? Now, no guessing here. Does anybody know why?

I can't say for sure, so yeah, it's technically a guess.
I'd suggest it has something to do with manufacturers being more conservative with what they send to the USA due to the US market being illogical and unpredictable? Also, due to the bikes long run (since '98?) in europe, little things like this can be used to spark interest in a new model year bike. (think "bold new graphics!!!" :))
