Wow! I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say, he got beat by more than I thought he would.

Pumps my nads... Bike on the straight-aways and the car in the curves. Good music in the background.

Of course it’s a BMW-v-BMW promo so the actual competitiveness is a bit questionable but it's always about how fast you can go around a corner... Car can have way more contact patch/pound...

Long time ago when the Viper first came out, I think it was anyway, they did something like this against a GP bike... the bike took off... two laps later the car passed and was leaving it behind.

Anyway, interesting that many people usually think a bike is WAY faster around a track (almost all corners)...

I had no idea Schnitzer tuned motorcycles... probably more of a visual package...

I used to think the same thing, but high end sports cars have much faster entry speed into corners. Usually a good rider will have about the same exit speed, but it doesn't matter how fast your bike is if you have to slow down so much for a turn..

Anyone every play PGR4? Somewhat realistic car vs bike racing...

Thing is thou, a mediocre bike will still beat an average car around a corner with a good rider, the car's gotta be high performance before it'll beat a bike, but it doesn't necessarily work the other way around.
Probably doesn't help that the K1200 weighs a ton. Do the race with Rossi aboard an R1.

Love to see it...

You are probably right that any old car can't hang (I wouldn't push the Viper into the exotics realm but for sure when it raced a bike years ago it was still far from 'any old') but by the same token a 2008 R1 isn't any old bike... (and what you doing looking at Yamaha’s... let’s do a CBR1000RR! back where Val should BE )

Point is... when actually compared against the (highly inaccurate) perception, it's far from a forgone conclusion.

aaaarrrhhhh, no more 'ring videos.

Everytime I watch one can't believe you only have to pay €5/$7 for a lap there and I would have to rent the whole creepy Memphis Motorsports track for 8hrs. and $5000.

I would point out that that's why groups like NESBA form to do track days. So you can spread that $5k among several people. I don't know what they pay to Summit Point, but the day cost me $145, which works out to about $1 per lap. Or more if you're slow... :naughty

I might have to found an association like that in Memphis. I don't know if the 'busa guys want to lean the bike, though. :ride

An talking about car vs. bike, I just came across this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qfy1VO4ePlA
