I was visiting a Honda motorcycle dealership in Northern VA this afternoon. I spoke with the guy who owned the dealership regarding the 919 and the 599. I was told that this (2008) was the last year for the 919 in the United States. Has anyone else heard this rumor?
The owner of the dealership said that "Americans just didn't want naked bikes.....Cruisers or sport bikes...but not the Euro bikes."

It's true, no more 919.
Honda currently has no naked bikes for sale, they didn't sell, but that's not to say naked bikes dont' sell. The number one seller for Suzuki is the SV650 and the number one seller for Kawasaki is the EX650(ok that one isn't really naked). Point being I see Honda giving it another shot.

Considering honda just pulled up all motorcycle manufacturing in the US, we know there won't be new nakeds made here.
Honda never marketed these bikes, partially because they were so expensive already. All I ever see on TV is Honda VTX, CRF and CBR (cruisers, dirtbikes, and crotch rockets). Yet all of my friends like my bike better than a crotch rocket.
The numbers just don't add up. :thinking

I've found that anyone that's ridden a 919 loves, it but not that many people knew about it. Didn't seem that Honda imported very many, and dealers didn't really push them that much.

I was at my local Honda dealer having a look at the new building they just built. I asked one of the sales dudes if he knew about Hornet's not being sold in North America. He just shrugged and in a annoying voice he say's "beats me, ask Honda!" I guess I can take that as a no.

He probably didn't know what you were talking about. Since it didn't say, CBR, VTX, or Goldwing on the side be probably doesn't even care...

Yeah, well you are right there. I went on a big rant last summer about how crap the service is my part of the world (holeshot in Langley are you listening?) and I see it isn't any better. I did ask him if he knew what I was talking about and some customers had a chuckle. That was the end of that conversation.
