View Full Version : Calling All California Riders!
n2citrus 03-12-2008, 10:06 AM This summer I might host a Central CA BBQ at my place, that way all the socal and norcal people could converge in one place. I live along the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and a great ride would be up to California Hot Springs. Look it up on Google Earth...lots of fun mountain curves. Then we could head back to my place for a BBQ dinner. This would need to be a full weekend event. There are several nice hotels nearby (Porterville, CA), and we could also put up some big tents. Any takers?

P.S. I am about two and a half hours north of LA and four hours south of SF Bay area.
Mitch 03-12-2008, 10:15 AM You can count me in as long as it's not on the first weekend of April.
It sounds awesome! I wonder who's going to make the trek from out of California to be with us.
rndthought 03-12-2008, 01:11 PM Call it the first West Coast Swarm... We need to catch up to our northern neighbors. Oh, and to even be in the same league, you'll need custom event specific koozies.

any takers?
That would make for a looooooooooooong ride. If more people from the North decide to go, I might just have to make my lady an offer she can't refuse (so she'll come along!). BBQ sounds great!
All April is booked for me though.
n2citrus 03-19-2008, 12:27 PM Perhaps in the summer then, as May weekends are all taken for me. Looks like only a few takers so far, might need to add some incentive to get a full swarm going.

Sounds interesting, I'm a definite maybe.
Mitch 03-19-2008, 11:06 PM I fear we might continue to keep saying "good idea... anyone?" unless we set a date or just invite people from outside the 599 group. I know it wouldn't be as cool, but... in the interest of an awesome trip and some incredible BBQ, I'd be willing to have some outsiders join in. I have a couple close friends who are riding now, and I bet I could cajole them into going.
n2citrus 03-20-2008, 09:53 AM I have a buddy who wants to bring his new Ninja down from Elk Grove...once we set a date I will post that and see what happens.
Just rode up to California Hot Springs yesterday, clear, sunny day and lots of twisty mountain roads! Fun, fun, fun!

Super Sneaky Steve 03-20-2008, 01:22 PM Are you really going to ride out to Cali RND? I think that's a little too far for me to ride.
n2citrus 03-20-2008, 04:01 PM RND/SSS Hop on a plane and come on out!
rndthought 03-21-2008, 01:02 PM I wish, would make a for a great 2 week vacation. But was just agreeing with the statement... I have found it to be the #1 rule of event planning.
Mitch 04-01-2008, 09:17 AM Hey Citrus, what's the latest with this meet-up?
n2citrus 04-05-2008, 04:26 PM My buddy in Elk Grove is still trying to find a weekend that works. I promise to let everyone know once we have one locked in. Just took another 40 mile ride up in the foothills...darn this bike is fun!

biking4jesus 05-03-2008, 12:16 PM i think it would be a good time to head to the top of mt san jacinto over the 74/76 through beaumant and come out down near hemet. i think it would be fun to go soon, as now it wont be nearly as cold at the top (snow is gone).

Sounds interesting, when are you planning this ride?
djamalt 05-04-2008, 04:34 PM I hate to complicate matters - BUT - is anyone up for a run out to the 33 in Ojai? It's an AMAZING RIDE. Just putting it out there. Hell we don't even have to go that far out, we could just do something simple like Angles Crest for the first group ride. Too many options eh:?:
In either case, if we are trying for a socal group ride what say folks to the weekend of the 17th or the 24th?
I'd be interested in and ACH ride. Either of those weekends works ok for me. Maybe you should start a new thread with the plan and we can see what kind of interest there is; there definitely seems to be quite a few local members.

Done and done! Check it out and let's see what happens.
