im just a poor college student who lusts after a 599... but i am thinking that as soon as May ill be able to afford one. i cant wait.

Isn't the 599 just the North American designation of the Honda Hornet? Does the OP want to include the number of 600cc Hornets in that number as well?

I didn't have one when I signed up here, but I bought one soon after. In the month or so I've been riding it, I've put on about 2400 km (1500 miles).

When I was researching bikes before buying my 599, I came across some very general figures. IIRC, Honda has sold something near to 100K units of the Hornet/599 worldwide since 1998. I know there are other Hornet models with different displacements like the guy on here with the 250. I heard once, though can't confirm, that there's also a 300+ available in the UK, or was.

Wow! 100,000 units worldwide since 1998. That's a lot of motorcycles. I mean, that doesn't make the bike sound so rare.
I wonder what the sales numbers are like for the 599. You know, over here in the USA and Canada. Whatever the number is, it's going to be low because low sales is why Honda pulled the 599 out of their lineup both times.

Well, the bike isn't rare in Europe. It's really popular there. Has it's own racing series, the Hornet Cup. Who knows how well it would have done here if Honda had done any advertising for it?
