Guess which bike they picked first :) 2004 Middleweight Standards Shootout (http://www.motorcycle.com/shoot-outs/2004-middleweight-standards-15087.htm) Seetrout 04-06-2008, 12:21 AM Good find :D :D mitsurugi 04-06-2008, 01:24 PM Good article - thanks for posting. GuyD 04-06-2008, 07:55 PM I think if you compared the Ninja 650R, the Speed Triple, the 599, an SV-650?, an FZ-6, and the new Duc 696 and you cover the middleweight naked class. I mean who wants 650 single cylinder BMW if you are shopping for this type of bike? But I think the above bikes represent the best in class and if you read all of the articles the 599 and Speed Triple are going to come out on top with a nod to the SV for "value" cause it's like $6K new. I'd keep my loyalty to my 599 but were I buying new and if money wasn't really an object I may go Speed Triple or maybe the new Duc but the new Duc is an unknown commodity. I think you can get new 2006 599's for $6K now which is quite a bit cheaper than the Speed Triple and undoubtedly the new Duc so from that perspective the 599 is looking like a great value play. Same price as the other offerings which are either quite long in the tooth or significantly lesser bikes. Since the 599's never sold well here I wonder if they will bring back a naked middleweight anytime soon. I like the 2007 Hornet except I hate the plastic notch on the forks by the headlight. The rest looks pretty cool to me. I use to have a Speed Triple and they are great bikes, but definitely not a middle weight! rndthought 04-07-2008, 08:47 AM I'm thinking unnecessarily graphic... when standard bikes are offered here they sell about as well as garlic fries at a vampire convention. :ride | |
