View Full Version : ARTFIBRAS HUGGER & CHAIN GUARD
Cyclerider101 04-07-2008, 12:06 AM I picked up a brand new Artfibras rear hugger and chain guard for the 599, but decided not to use it. It is painted gloss balck to match the 2006 color. I have it on ebay and here is the link. Make a reasonable offer and it is yours!

JHenley17 04-07-2008, 12:37 AM Alright, guys, don't bother bidding. I've already put my max at $200... just move along...
Tinks599 04-07-2008, 03:15 PM liar.
mitsurugi 04-07-2008, 07:06 PM Hmm, that one is very tempting.
JHenley17 04-07-2008, 07:19 PM I'm not a liar, you're a cheater...
Nah... I didn't need to spend that money, anyways. I always realize that two seconds after I place a bid. I've been lucky to get bailed out at least one other time this week...
Tinks599 04-07-2008, 09:00 PM What do you mean, cheater?
JHenley17 04-07-2008, 10:30 PM Nothing at all... just didn't want anyone to test my claim...
Cyclerider101 04-07-2008, 10:32 PM Come on, bid at least $300.00! :D
mitsurugi 04-08-2008, 09:29 AM Just curious - Why didn't you use this thing? and how much did it cost from the company?
Cyclerider101 04-08-2008, 12:47 PM I bought it in combination with the undertail, so I'm not sure how much I paid for it specifically. I wasn't sure I wanted a hugger in the first place, but ordered it since they are somewhat difficult to order. I decided to keep the rear tire stock. It is a really nice hugger/chain guard though!
Tinks599 04-09-2008, 09:08 AM Ok, somebody (here locally) said even if I did buy this, I'd need a fender eliminator or I couldn't use it. Sometimes idiot guys think they can buffalo me, just because I'm a girl. I will be honest when I tell you I don't know, so I'm telling you...I don't know. I want a fender eliminator, but it isn't a necessary thing, it it? It doesn't seem so to me.
PS: Before you go getting all gender offended, I don't give in to, or play on gender stereotypes, but get a bit frustrated when others do. If I'm ignorant, it is because I'm ignorant...meaning I just don't know. I'll tell you, I'll get educated, I'm no longer ingnorant. Period.

I can't imagine that you would. The Artfibras hugger doesn't come up very high. Now, it sure LOOKS a lot better with a fender eliminator, but that's preference. Lots of folks just do a great job of trimming the stock fender down.
djamalt 04-09-2008, 10:55 AM Ok, somebody (here locally) said even if I did buy this, I'd need a fender eliminator or I couldn't use it.
Did the person who told you that have a fender eliminator to sell you? Or were they pointing you to a friend who did? I can't understand that logic. While my hugger/chain guard is not from Artfibras, I had it on for several months before I finally got an Artfibras undertail on the bike. There was absolutely no issue with the stock fender interfering with the huger - they're not even that close to one another.
JHenley17 04-09-2008, 01:50 PM I dunno... better safe than sorry...
no, that makes no sense at all. They work in two different areas and come nowhere close to each other. The hugger will mount where the chain guard mounts and will just have the hugger attached to it, which rides just over your tire.
If you do a lot of wet riding, you might hold off on the fender eliminator. There's a good bit of dirt on my backpack just from riding home from class on wet roads. It slings the stuff everywhere.
Mitch 04-09-2008, 06:24 PM phew... I was away for a few days, but I'm back now and ready to bid on this bad boy. Sorry Henley.
Stinger 04-11-2008, 03:43 PM Who wants a carbon fiber rear hugger/chain cover?
Tinks599 04-11-2008, 03:55 PM I want a hugger and a fender eliminator. I have seen one before that makes the under-seat space much bigger. That was a while back and I haven't seen them around for a while and don't remember who made it. I wanted it in black (maybe rhino lining) coated, instead of yellow. I figure eventually I'll find it.
