Would like to say hello to everyone. This is my first time using this site. I'm scheduled to take the motorcycle safety course July 11th - 14th @ our comm. college. I'm looking at a 2006 599. Would like to know if this is a good deal or not. I have it on hold.

2006 Honda 599 Hornet (CB600F6)
Black • 175 miles
$3995 - ON HOLD

This bike came in with the Speed Triple and has almost no miles. Why? The owners son was learning to ride and in a parking lot and it got away from him and fell over. There was no mechanical damage and we fixed most the cosmetic items like mirror, turns signal, engine cover, lever, and instrument cover. There was a scratch in the left side of the tank and rear side body panel which we touched up but did not replace so this bike is priced well below the market and well below NADA trade values. When we are done it will be hard to tell it ever fell over and you'll get the benefit of one of the nicest 600cc bikes on the market; 404lbs, liquid cooled 16v 599cc in line 4, comfortable standard riding position, 2-1 exhaust, 41mm inverted forks, 34mm flat-slide CV carbs, 6 speed 'box, huge front discs, and 4.5 gallon tank. Light, quick, and excellent around town or track day bike. Act fast, this will sell immediately.

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

:welcome Randy.

That sounds like a hell of a deal. If you don't want it, I'll snag it as a spare!

In all seriousness, you'll want to look at it closely to make sure that it was just a low-speed drop and not a more serious collision. One man's idea of "fixing it" might not make it "like new" again. Worst case, it could be hiding dangerous flaws. If you're uncomfortable making that call, try to take a more knowledgable person with you. At the very least, I'd read up on what to look for in a used bike.

Again, it sounds like a great deal if it's in decent shape. You can't go wrong with these bikes (though we're a biased group around here, obviously...)

Good luck with the bike and the MSF course. Training and a 599 are both good starts.

Thanks!!!!
Wanted to do this right by taking the course first. Didn't know if buying the bike before the course was a good idea or not. I don't think I can go wrong.
The bike is from a well known dealer here in Maryland. I hope this would make alittle difference. I haven't seen the bike yet because they are repainting the tank. I put a $500 "HOLD" which is fully refundable if I decide not to buy.

That's a hell of a deal, assuming there isn't something being hidden. I think I could get about that much for my bike that has a little cosmetic damage and over 8k. If you know how to use a clutch, you can probably get it now, maybe see if the dealer will ride it home for you if you're not comfortable. The MSF course is VERY basic, but it should make you a little more comfortable with the general operation of the bike.

Welcome Randy!! Hell of a deal as stated already. Is the dealer selling
it as is, cos that would be a bit of a red flag for me. If they are offering
some sort of warranty or guarantee on it then i say hellz yeah!!!
Good luck. Keep us posted.

Did you have to pay for all of those repairs?

All of the repairs are being done by the dealer!
I just called to see the status of the bike - still at the painters

I got mine two months ago from the dealer. brand new 06 for 5995. I'd say it's a screaming deal scratch or no scratch. You can get the extended warranty with all the extra cash you'll have laying around :)

Sounds like a sweet deal if everything's true. Skip the extended warranty, it's a Honda, fer gawdsakes! Consider the prepaid service, though. Best of luck with the purchase! 8)
