View Full Version : oil on the ground

I dropped my 04 yellow 599 today.
I just rode my baby slowly in the city.
After waiting for the red light, I started and suddenly I slipped without any sign.
I slipped with the bike for a short distance because my left foot was under it.
I just figured out that there was some oil on the ground.
So the most serious injury is about the twisted ankle.
Now my ankle is as big as an apple, and I can't really walk right now.

For my baby, it still can run straight because my friend helped me to ride it home.
But it got some scratches on the fuel tank, rear fender and other parts.
That's pretty bad luck.
Oh, my poor ankle and poor baby bike.

btw, does any one have ideas where i can get the cheaper tank for 04 yellow 599?
Thank you.

That sucks, but a twisted ankle isn't too bad for a crash.

I don't really have chance to take some pics for my bike because I can't even walk right now.

Sorry to hear about your fall. It really sucks, especially when it's something stupid like oil on the road. (A reminder to pay attention to the road at all times, I'm sure.)

Wishing quick recovery to you and your baby alike.

As far as cheaper tank goes - try eBay (but don't hold your breath), as you might have figured out, 599s are rather rare. Look around the forum, you'll find others suggesting good places to buy OEM parts. Don't remember where I saw it off the top of my head, so hopefully someone will post it here.

Holy crap that's like a kankle!

I try and wear my boots everytime I ride, this is friendly reminder to do so.

Whether it's worth sayin' or not, I always try to come to a stop at one of the sides of my lanes. Lots of the roads around here have lots of oil on 'em from cars.

Here's to a quick recovery!

Ouch man.... that looks like it hurts like a mofo.

If my bike is totaled and I can't find a place to save it, I might buy it back and part it out. So keep that in mind - my tank is still good to go. It's Asphalt, but you could get it painted.

Thanks for all the replies again.
Two days after, my foot looks like..........don't know how to say it.

But the good news is I don't really feel pain if I don't move my foot.

JBarx, I saw your post and sorry for that bad. Hopefully you and your bike will get well soon. Thanks for your suggestion, and I will keep in mind. Keep in touch.

 Damn dude, I've never seen an ankle that swollen. I had a high ankle sprain that looked better. Go see a doctor, make sure nothing is broken.

While playing ice hockey I got my skates taken out while on a breakaway. Slammed feet first into the end boards and had a really bad ankle sprain. Swelled up quite a bit, but NOTHING compared to av0486's ankle!

I think poonMaster is right, maybe it's best to get it checked out...

I suppose a forum like this has a section called "Accidents" for a reason, but darn it, I wish it stayed empty!

Best of luck healing up and getting the bike fixed. +1 on getting the ankle looked at.

thanks guys. after 10 days just staying at home, I am getting better now. My foot and ankle still swell a little bit, but at least it looks normal. And I don't feel pain when I am doing some simple moves. Hopefully I will be back to the road soon. Thanks all.
