View Full Version : new 599 owner in Michigan
some guy 08-12-2008, 02:00 PM Hi all,
I just picked up my 04 599 last Friday. I found it on ebay
and it happened to be at the shop down the street from work.
I've been riding my 79 cafe racer off and on (when the bike ran good enough) for the last few years.
So far I love the bike, I just need to get some new mirrors. Maybe I can see if I can fit the barend mirrors I have on my old bike on the 599.
Anyway great site!
playhockeyeh 08-12-2008, 02:16 PM Welcome aboard! Do you have any pictures of your 599?
:woohoo
some guy 08-12-2008, 02:51 PM Thanks,
Yeah I do have a picture, well with both bikes actually.
Just a stock 599 with big funky mirrors that look like they should be on a scooter.

playhockeyeh 08-12-2008, 02:58 PM Very nice pictures. Are you planning on keeping the Yamaha or are you going to sell it?
some guy 08-12-2008, 03:06 PM I would like to keep it but, I only have a shed and there is not enough room for both bikes.
Plus I'm not a every good mechanic and bikes that old always needs to be tinkered with..
Looking good there! Congrats on the wonderful purchase. How much did you pay for it?
markv 08-12-2008, 07:09 PM Welcome! Congrats on the 599. The Yamaha looks cool too.
Add yourself to the 599 map, get another pin in the midwest!

some guy 08-13-2008, 07:50 AM Thanks everyone!
AleX, I paid a little over $3000 for it, I think I got a good deal on it (I hope I did anyway!!)
Seems like yellow is a popular color on these bikes, how many years did it come in yellow?
Super Sneaky Steve 08-13-2008, 08:32 AM Hey guy, welcome to the site. I'm in Michigan too, White Lake. Where are you.
some guy 08-13-2008, 09:20 AM I'm in Lincoln Park, too bad everyone in Michigan is spread out so far.
it would take an hour or so just to met up with everyone.
markv 08-15-2008, 09:57 AM Hey "some guy"....just noticed your profession - designer. Same here, which area of design? Product myself-automotive, not surprisingly, considering our location.

Same here Automotive. 3D design of wiper systems mostly on UG nx5.
Was a Graphic Designer before this.
They hiring there? :D
This place is to far away from home!!
markv 08-19-2008, 08:38 AM I was on wipers early in my work life! Eventually settled in Door systems the last 15 or so years. (Making myself old by saying that). I commute from Canada everyday to Troy so also too far from home :( . NX5 and V5 depending on the customer. I'm with one of the former Delphi businesses, now privately owned and called Inteva.
Thanks everyone!

3K is an awesome price! And to answer your question: in US, only 2004 and 2006 models are sold. Yellow and Asphalt are 2006, shiny/metallic black is 2006.
