I want to start taking weekend trips with my 919 and was thinking about some saddle bags. I have a tank bag I like but it is just not enough. I was thinking of these (http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/saddlebags_/cortech_by_tour_master/sport_motorcycle_saddlebags.html) but not sure if being so close to the pipes would cause a problem then their is a problem of mounting them as well. I like how the cortech bags attach to the tail bag and come off as one unit but am willing to look at others.

Your help is appreciated

Btw this is my first post :D

howdy!

welcome!
I never noticed the exhaust getting hot enough to worry about it, but you can buy sheets or rolls of heat shield material (the kind they use for car exhausts) and apply on to the bag where it comes on contact with the pipe.

Ill look in to that if I change out the stock pipes. I was just wondering if anybody has used bags before on their 919, how it worked out, and if any spefic bag works best.

I don't have a 919 but I came across this website when I was looking for some for my 599:

I even tried the Chase Harper Stealth saddlebags neglecting to notice the 919 had TWO exhausts :) Needles to say the bags went back to the store.

I've got a set of nelson rigg silver streak bags, I like the cortechs a lot better. As long as you keep the mounting straps adjusted right, and don't let them slide behind the exhaust they'll be fine. I've traveled several hundred miles at a time, and never had any problems till they slipped behind the pipes. The heat sheilds will do their jobs beautifully...
